If he goes, when he goes, the scarf is there, but there's no sign of her. The scarf, if he gets close enough to it, smells of her room in Gatsby, strong perfumes, ammonia and tea. There's no fear associated with the scent. And, in tiny letters, scratched just below the scarf on the signpost.]
