He wanted to know more, wanted some security in her well-being, but he also knew that it wasn't best to push during these moments. Annie was strong, courageous, but she was also broken in a way that not all realized the extent of. Finnick knew, though, had seen the way the arena had changed her, and he wanted nothing more than to try and heal the wounds that were carved so deep into her soul.
Finnick couldn't make it better, though. All he could do was make the best out of the moments they had, carve some bit of happiness into the world that they existed in. "Not now," he repeated, his hand coming down to rest upon the side of her neck, and then he was kissing her again, slow and sweet, drawing her in close as they drifted through the water, strong kicks with his feet keeping them afloat as he supported them both.
