Re: Mina M/Victor F
Simplicity invites frivolity. It is through living, the lashes of experience and the lapse of innocence, that one loses interest in silly things. I once believed that the affliction was youth, but I have made the acquaintance of far too many older women to remain affected by the phenomena. When it comes to women, wealth allows for naivete. It is only tragedy that makes a difference. Death, sickness, and heartbreak may find us all, regardless of our station. When ones dreamless nights are perforated by the fits of consumption, balls and party dresses are far from mind. I dare say you are better off having forgotten whatever merit such useless glamour once held for you.

Love is your master, for he masters you; And he that is so yoked by a fool, Methinks, should not be chronicled for wise.
