Re: Mina M/Victor F
Since the evening of our encounter, I have been overwhelmed by the satisfaction of not having to endure the claustrophobia of such a social gathering. The words that I exchanged with you, miss, were the only balm to what otherwise proved to be an onslaught of irritation. I am not a man who finds purpose or intrigue in the indulgent chatter of the aristocracy. I would much prefer to be working, or as luck would have it on that night, sharing in poetry with someone of like interest.
I am cursed with curiosity, but would make no predictions on the favorite poem of a lady such as yourself. I would not assume to know you well enough to do so, and to pretend would be an insult to your refreshing presence.
As my name is Victor, you may surely call me it. Although, social convention likely dictates you refer to the title, "Doctor." As for Miss Ives, she is an acquaintance of mine that I am proud to call friend, if she counts me as such.
The poem holds a significant familiarity for me. I have been aware of my own uniqueness for most of my life, although I would not find sorrow in such a thing.
Finally, be not sorry, the fingers of a doctor are quite resilient.
