Gotham: News
[If there's one thing the Families can agree on, it's bats. A hefty little price is placed on the head of a certain redhaired bat. But for once, the people of Gotham and the Families are in complete agreement (well, with the exception of Gotham's few hundred or so wealthy families, but they're coming around and buying Family protection). After all, the clinics in Gotham's poor areas are all stocked, and the working girls have many fewer bruises. There's dinner on the table in most footsoldier's homes, and even the very, very poor are walking in shoes with fresh soles.
The graffiti popping up throughout Gotham is decidedly anti-Bat, and the new Mayor makes an impassioned speech about the brutality of hanging men from streetlamps, complete with enlarged version of Batgirl's pictures used to drive the point home. These men could be your fathers, your sons, your brothers, and it's increasingly true in a mob-run Gotham. He reminds everyone of the brutalities committed by the "Bat" the previous year, and he asks if Gotham will join him in standing against this tyranny; the sounds of assent from the crowd are impressive.]
