Policy. We all make mistakes. But repeat offenders will be asked to leave the community, or banned, depending upon the severity of the offence. So read up on the rules!
Grammar/Spelling. We're not nazis, but the community must be able to clearly understand your posts. This means absolutely no net speak.
Language. Cursing is allowed, we're all adults here. If you feel it might have gone a little in excess, however, consider mentioning it in a Warning. (Explained below.)
Realism. This is not a fandom community, nor one based upon real people, historical or not. That means no vampires, angels, demons, or Babe Ruth.
Date. No, we don't know all the details of the 1920, but please try to keep your posts/characters ground in that general era.
Sex. Tasteful mentions of sex are more than welcome on this community, but please keep any pornographic material linked to your own character journal.
Journal. You MUST have a character journal. You may not post to the community, or the OOC forum with your personal journal.
Age. 18+ only, please. We realize there are many a mature sixteen year old out there, but this just keeps things easier to maintain. If you believe you might be an exception to this rule, however, feel free to e-mail the moderators and we'll be more than willing to discuss it.
Drama. Character drama = good. OOC drama = bad. Start any of the latter, and you will be banned. No exceptions.
Messenger. While it is certainly not required, it is a good idea to have some form of personal messenger. AIM, Yahoo, and MSN are all fantastic, 100% cost-free options. Many players enjoy RPing with this medium, and it may be helpful to encourage a sense of community.
Respect. Be kind, courteous, and respective of your fellow player. No, you do not have to get along, or even become friends, though that is certainly an enjoyable thing. But keep whatever problems you may have with another player outside of the game, or you will be asked to leave.
Plot. We like plot here. It's kind of the point. So try to have at least a basic one in mind. This also means absolutely none of the following: God Moding, Mary Sueing, or Mary Stuing. Period.
Activity. You have a life and we respect that. We encourage an active, enjoyable community, but do not expect players to be glued to their computers 24/7. That said, if you must be inactive due to outside reason for more than two weeks, please e-mail the moderators, or post on the OOC forum. Characters left inactive for four weeks without proper notice will be removed.
Tagging. Every post you make on the main community (not OOC) must be tagged according to the character's name, as follows: john_doe or jane_doe. This makes it easier for not only you, but other players, and the moderators, to find your posts. Be sure to include a tag specificying the point of your post, i.e., Letter, Invitation, Plot, Character Development, Log, etc.
Posts. Posts on the main community can be a great deal many things. A journal entry (pref. in first-person), a log of one-on-one gaming with another player, or a third-person account of whatever you'd like to see your character doing. It can also be an item, rather than a character-driven entry, i.e., an invitation to a party, a letter, etc. When posting, please include a short warning (example below), followed by an LJ cut and your post.
Example Warning:
Subject/Theme: Where: Who/What: Warnings (excessive naughty language, incest, violence, death, sex, etc.): Open To (Who may, or may not, reply to your post):
Lastly. Have fun! This is an easy-going community just trying to get a spot of creative amusement. Players are encouraged to mingle, develop their characters and plots, throw parties, start a weekly gossip column, form relationships, cause scandal, anything to build and brighten our little imaginary world.
