Hey guys! So I'm rolling out a bit of a mini-plot for Halloween weekend. It'll be starting TONIGHT, around 8 PM PST, and go until midnight on the 2nd.

A spell set to pull the myths out of the metas goes awry on Friday evening, and knocks about in the ether. Instead of pushing the myths into different human hosts, it pulls stories out of somewhere else and drops them into new hosts. Those stories? Modern films, the closest things to mythology that we've got.

The way the spell works is this: all the film in the theatres is going to go blank at once, and all those stories are going to manifest in the real world. Now, you won't actually have Gerard Butler running around blowing people up -- but that character will settle into someone, who will then act out the story of the movie. Students at the high school might suddenly burst into the dance numbers from fame; an unassuming couple in a new home might find themselves abruptly plagued by otherworldly forces. It'll become pretty clear early on that these are movies that have somehow taken residence in real people, though no one will know exactly how (and you'll get more on that as the plot goes on), nor will they know how to stop it. Please note! The movie-characters won't be settling into any of our PCs, but into NPCs your characters can interact with. Maybe someone in a meeting with a mafioso finds themselves confronted by two Irish gun-wielding brothers, or maybe customers in Wal-Mart suddenly start shuffling around trying to eat people. Run wild!

This is the list of recent movies I'm going by:

This Is It
Boondock Saints II
Saw VI
Astro Boy
Cirque du Freak
Amelia
Where the Wild Things Are
Law Abiding Citizen
Paranormal Activity
Couples Retreat
The Stepfather
Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs
Zombieland
Toy Story 1 & 2 in 3D
Surrogates
The Invention of Lying
Whip It
Capitalism: A Love Story
The Informant
Fame
Tyler Perry’s I Can Do Bad All By Myself

To start things off, I'm setting up where a few of the characters will be manifesting. This isn't every NPC you can play with, by any means; just a jumping point.

  • Tom Greer (Bruce Willis)/Surrogates → One of San Francisco PD's lieutenants, who will start ranting and raving about having to experience life through our own bodies, the evil of surrogates, etc. Also that there is some massive conspiracy meant to wipe out ~everyone~.
  • Zombies/Zombieland → Any non-metahuman customer in a Starbucks when the movie-transfer hits. PLEASE NOTE: Being bit by one of the "zombies" won't actually turn you into one, and they can't rip people apart with their teeth and eat brains. They will be chasing people all over town and biting them, however, and people who get bit will become significantly more impulsive, angry, and violent. If you want your character to get bit, let me know, and we can talk specifics!
  • Michael Moore/Capitalism: A Love Story → A local newscaster will commandeer some of the news crew to go around and interview any media moguls they can get their hands on. The city will be somewhat chaotic, so "Michael's" film may or may not end up more like Cloverfield.
  • The cast of Fame → Students in Sarah ([info]rejoice)'s dance courses! Jamie, if she has classes at 6-ish, you can definitely have it happen during the class. :D
  • Connor and Murphy MacManus (Sean Patrick Flannery and Norman Reedus)/Boondock Saints II → Two male friends, accountants by day, basketball players by night, who spend most of their free time on Halo. They will probably try to attempt to contact mob men in town and/or kill them. Any of you involved in seedier Mammoth work might run into them!
  • Clyde Shelton (Gerard Butler)/Law Abiding Citizen → An IT manager for Mammoth, who will suddenly feel horrifically persecuted and come up with elaborate plans to get back at everyone.
  • Buzz and Woody/Toy Story → A local carpenter and engineer frequently at odds.
  • Katie and Micah (Katie Featherstone and Micah Sloat)/Paranormal Activity → Won't actually come out much, but their house will be the center of, for lack of a better word, paranormal activity. Because this whole debacle is a mystical one, it will be a lot more noticeable than the somewhat private events of the film.
  • The wild things/Where the Wild Things Are → A jazz band, which will suddenly sprout horns, excess body hair, and grow about a foot. They'll likely be wandering the streets, looking for their king.

These are just some ideas to get you guys going! Enjoy!

And as always, let me know if you have any questions!
