HEY GUYS, just a quick heads up--as of this narrative, the minotaur is officially in the museum, wreaking havoc. He is going to be tearing down walls and exhibits and tables and ripping people apart, and most of the emergency exits are pretty quickly going to be out of commission by people scrambling to get out and inadvertently blocking them in the process.

If your character has a blackberry/cellphone on them, they can definitely post to the network for help if they're stuck anywhere, or just to panic, if that's their thing. This phase of the plot will be going through to Sunday night, so have fun!

EDIT: A good point was made: getting between the actual ball and the attack might take a while to do IC, so I'm going to open up this post to establish what might have happened between your characters arriving at the party and the minotaur crashing it. Are they stuck anywhere, are they with anyone, have they tried anything heroic~ or cowardly, etc. Have at it!

Hey guys! The first thread for the New Years Eve plot is up, so please tag in at your leisure! We are pausing game time (or at least slowing it down considerably) so that an IC event of a few hours can be stretched over a few days. Right now the schedule, for your reference, is this:

• TONIGHT and TOMORROW: The ball! Schmooze, booze, whatever you like. Any shenanigans you might have had planned for the ball should happen during this time. To avoid having a bunch of threads and logs, please use the open plot thread to tag in. You can mark any tag to particular people, or as occurring at a specific (before midnight, please!) time, if you like!
  
• TOMORROW AND SUNDAY NIGHT: Our first big plot event! ICly, this will go through into the early hours of the 1st, but plot posts and tags will be going up all through the weekend. You can also start putting up any personal narratives or threads you want during this time.
  
• MONDAY NIGHT: The plot ends. This will be January 1st game time, and we will be jumping forward a few days to compensate the IC/OOC time lapse.

One more thing: I need people to volunteer three characters to get roughed up on Saturday. There will be various degrees of injury, but your characters will definitely need some medical assistance afterwards. You can go ahead and tag here and I'll IM you with the details tomorrow. :D

HEY GUYS! It's your friendly neighborhood Rhia, bringing you my first char~ Her name is Valerie Ryan and she is also Chronos, the manly god of time! Because of that she has the super awesome ability to stop time. Also, she really hates being late and loves scheduling things. Anywayyyy, let me tell you moar. She grew up in Seattle with her siblings and her abusive parents. She left home as soon as she graduated from high school and ended up getting custody of her younger sister after their parents got put into jail. You can read more about that here.

She's really strong willed and pretty feisty. She has a hard time letting people in, but she's not unfriendly. She's kind of a smart ass and uses joking as a sort of defense mechanism. She's reeeeally responsible and mature and ~organized~ but she usually doesn't come off that way. She's a bit of a motherer, but in more of a "Jesus Christ get your act together 8|" way than anything. She doesn't have a lot of free time; on top of being her sister's legal guardian and working she is a secret vigilante. BET YOU DIDN'T SEE THAT COMING.

Hey, guys! Now that everyone's getting settled into the game, I think it's about time to roll out the first plot drop box. This is something new I want to try, so let me know how it works and how you guys like it, if you have any questions/concerns, etc.

Basically, the plot drop box is an opportunity for you to let me know of any ideas you might have for your character(s), sort of like a regular drop box, but I'll be reposting it each month instead of making it a sticky. I'm trying to do a smallish monthly plot for the game entirely, but a good game isn't run by just one person: I really want to encourage and ensure that I'm working with the ideas you guys come up with (because they are, to be perfectly frank, way better than mine). While I initially figured this would be for plot centered around your own characters, I'd be more than happy for any other plot ideas, too! All comments are screened, so just leave a note here with whatever your idea happens to be. "I think it'd be cool if we had everyone turn into sharks for a day," or "I'd like my character to be trained by the Theodicy version of Batman" -- whatever you like! Each month I'll take an idea and contact whoever put it in to fit it into the game. Don't be afraid to put in anything, even if you think it won't work or it's silly. We can always use it as a jumping point!

As far as the actual submissions go, just make sure to include as many details as you think are necessary, and whatever characters you want or think should be involved. Other than that, have fun, and get creative! :DD

HEY THEODICY it's shay aka falsestarts! i have not been around much ik ik but i have been working on THIS GUY. he's ian sullivan, aka oedipus. you may know him as THE ORIGINAL MOTHERFUCKER. except it was his own mother he was fucking. ~trippy~! anyways, ian is a smart bro. he excelled in high school and went to evergreen state before landing a job at mammoth, but that only lasted a little while, because when his boss found out that ian was boning his wife, it got nasty. he's blackballed at all of mammoth's affiliate companies, so he really can't work ANYWHERE.

so what's a guy to do? obviously, lure older women into becoming your lovers and then paying for all your shit - or just laundering it away from them sneaky-like in the case of the more obstinate broads. ian's power is to attract women, basically; he can make himself stand out in a room of guys that appear just like him, and deflect other men away from a specific woman he's interested in. it doesn't work on a woman who is in love with someone else or who is explicitly uninterested and stubborn. but it definitely helps.

ian is also a SUPER GRUMP. he is not interested in your shenanigans. unfortunately, he attracts like every kind of person who he normally doesn't like. he's also bisexual, but it's weird. he's pretty sexist and doesn't really enjoy the company of most women with a few exceptions (nikki orfire is his bff and he's super in love with her boo cry moar little rejected loser), but as part of his BEING OEDIPUS AND STUFF, he can never truly get along with a man.

Hey dudes. It's Jamie again XD

This is Jared Lowell, aka Phaëton, son of Helios the sun god. He's a rookie paramedic, and relatively new to Seattle - he first came here about two and a half years ago for college before changing his mind about what he wanted to ~do with his life~ and all. Prior to that he lived a couple of hours outside the city, and had this whole drama over trying to track down his birth father (a former South Carolina governor, not as cool as it might sound like it would be) that paralleled his myth pretty closely until the part where his birth father completely rejected him, hence the need to get out of town for a while. He has a real reckless streak, like he thinks he's completely invulnerable or something (despite having been in a couple of serious car accidents already and almost drowning on a rescue earlier in his training), which his superiors aren't totally thrilled with, but they assume he'll grow out of it. Which, oh the irony, isn't going to happen unless something pretty major changes - his myth is best known for dying young in a stupid accident, and odds are he will too. Luckily that isn't the only thing he gets from being a meta, he also has a mostly unconscious ability to bind people to their word - if somebody offers to do him a favor (even if it's literally just 'hey, will you do something for me?' 'sure, what do you need?') they'll feel compelled to keep their word, no matter how much they might not want to. He hasn't actually figured out the details of his ability, he's just suspicious enough that he might be a meta to be hanging around the boards. Aside from the general recklessness and unintentionally forcing people to keep casual promises, he's also a generally nice guy, a pretty die-hard romantic, and the sort of friend who will literally give you the shirt off his back if you look like you need it, so he's not a total mess or anything. This is like the worst intro I've ever written, and I'm too tired to even care.

Nadia was gone, but Athena had not given up trying to repair the ritual she had botched two decades ago. Whenever she had time enough, and necessary materials, it was back into the storeroom of their shop (now dilapidated, clinging to the economic black zone with fingers and toes) with oil and a small bottle of water, verses on her lips. It never worked. But whatever George said, she knew she couldn't leave it alone. Who knew if the myths would bond to their carriers? Become irrevocably entwined with their lives and impossible to remove? A disaster she didn't want to think about.

She burned the laurel leaves, dipped her fingers in olive oil, hovered over the bowl of purified water. It rippled of its own volition—something moved through her, like a shot of lightning—the laurel went up in flames. Athena put her hand on the antique pithoi she'd set aside, a tangible conduit for the intangible myths—empty.

Empty. She knew something had happened. But what?

HELLO. This is Rian, bringing in my fourth. Soon I may even had boys to my roster; crazy, I know.

This is Cat Davenport, former heiress to her parents' (largely negligible) fortune before she came out as a lesbian. The Davenports have a long history of money, but in the past couple of decades, have pretty much lost their toe-hold in the old-money aristocracy; Catherine was their way back in, through marriage, but the whole gay thing mostly shot that down. I say mostly because she actually is engaged to a man; they both know she's gay, but he's just ~so in love with her~, and she's too nice to say no (and, all right, used to the cushy life her parents and fiance pay for, which would be pulled out from under her if she turned him down).

Otherwise, she's a pretty happy camper about 98% of the time. She's very mellow and motherly, and tends to avoid fights or confrontation, likes partying, music, and dancing (though she's very bad at it), and is a licensed foster pet owner. Her and her fiance's apartment has at least five separate animals at any given time, and she specializes in making cantankerous or antisocial animals ready for rehoming. She rarely keeps a job more than a few months, and has zero concept of how to do basic living-on-your-own tasks like paying the bills or fixing a broken cabinet. Paul takes care of all that nonsense. If you're friends with her, you will probably receive baked goods at least once a week, although there's no guarantee those won't have hallucinogenic substances in them.

Hey dudes. I'm Jamie, and for those of you who don't know me, I miss the beginnings of games ALL THE TIME. But I'm here now, and that's what counts.

This is Sarah Sonam, aka Euterpe, the muse of music. She's a high school choir director and a ballroom/latin dance instructor, and she's very good at both thanks to her meta ability, which is one of the more passive ones - she can improve the musical abilities of anyone she teaches, whether they're singing, dancing, or playing instruments, and she can also inspire already-talented musicians or dancers to create new works. Teaching really is a calling for her, she's one of those people who just truly loves nudging other people in the right direction and watching them start to shine. As you might expect from that, she's overwhelmingly cheerful and optimistic, and tries to spread that attitude to other people around her as much as she possibly can. Apparently the Brits are invading because she is from London, came over to the States for university after she got pregnant the first time she slept with her then boyfriend, had an abortion and couldn’t stand the shame :/ After attending NYU and getting a degree in business, majoring in marketing she started an internship with an advertising company and worked her butt off. Then she started seeing this guy and got pregnant. Again. It’s a problem for her, she’s ridiculously fertile and so she now abstains. Totally. Doesn’t mean she’s not a horrible flirt sometimes, she has to get her kicks somewhere guys. That second time she moved to Seattle, had the baby but gave him up for adoption. Ahe doesn’t see him, tries not to think about him and dosn't talk about him. Christine’s kind of intense and carries around a weird kind of gravitas, but she’ll be nice enough to most people without being too chummy, buuuut she has no qualms about yelling at interns. HOW ELSE WILL THEY LEARN? She’s the Advertising Exec for Mammoth Shipping, she’s very work focused and likes art and martinis.

As for her meta-powers, they’re elemental and season based, so in the summer months she can control fire, in autumn it’s earth, winter, air and spring water, she can’t create any of them, only work with what’s already there. Plants also inexplicably survive really well around her, cut flowers last ages, etc etc. This was rambly but I’m sick, pity me ;_;

OKAY I skipped class today and really need to shower but intro is more important. YAY. Hi everybody. I know almost all of you, I think. I'm Shay/neruda anddd I am relatively boring. I am knitting a scarf at the moment. Um. I'm a film student who's not in any film classes. I take gummi vitamins. And I am obsessed with Pokemon/being their master.

ANYWAYS this is Chloe Bahar, the first of three that I have coming in. Chloe is Atalanta, or that princess who was abandoned and raised by bears and then became a master huntress/runner. And then got a bunch of guys killed because they wanted to marry her. YAY. Chloe herself has powers of running (NOT super speed, although that's what it comes across as). She was raised by her older brothers (she has 10 siblings) because her parents mostly took care of her little brothers and sister. And she's a runner. She won a gold medal at Beijing but she was "outed" as a meta and stripped of her medal, as well as being banned from competitive racing for life. You can read the deets in her history, but now what you need to know is: Chloe is ANGRY. At you. And you. And you. It doesn't matter if you're a saint. Actually, that will make her hate you more. She lives with her widowed grandmother and works at a country club, which she hates. And umm the only person she can stand is her bff Kelly. She's basically the giant troll of the forum. So look out. 8|

Bonjour tout le monde! My name is Cassie. I am 21, in my senior year at college and I can be pretty shy at first but I swear I am a joy and stuff to know once I open up. I am bringing my first character in today (and I plan on bringing at least two more!):

This is Reed Samson, also known as Pan. Pan is a mischievous sort of god with quite the musical talents and the ability to induce strife and discord. Reed encompasses the abilities of Pan in a few different ways. For one, he can play any instrument! And he plays them well. He isn't capable of inspiring strife between people like Pan is, but Reed is the sort of personality who could easily diffuse tensions between two individuals. Reed is a 24 year old college drop-out, originally from Texas but found his way out to Seattle for university. He's spent the last few years since then working at a family-owned pizza shop in the city and playing music whenever and wherever he can. He's a charming flirt and a very at-ease individual capable of making friends easily. The way to his heart is through music, drugs and food.

Zoe here again! I said I had a third character in the works, and here he is.

This is Theo Yates, also known as Hephaestus, Olympian god of metalworking and volcanoes and all that hot stuff. Naturally, his power is geokinesis, meaning that he can move rock and metal of all kinds with just his mind, among other things. Theo is a 32-year-old sculptor and jeweler from England who has achieved some real success in the art world (he's shown at the Guggenheim in NY and all across Europe), or had, until his beautiful lying bitch of a wife cheated on him after a five-year marriage and he basically stopped making art for two years. He moved to Seattle to get away from the house they lived in together, for one, but also because Mammoth Shipping has been paying him to design new weapons for them, and those jobs were pretty much the only thing that got him out of bed for a while there. He's extremely grounded and good-natured, tends to trust everyone, and has a charming side that tends to make him easier to get along with than most. Last but definitely not least, he's partially paralyzed and wheelchair-bound after getting hit by a car when he was fifteen. Sigh, being handicapped sucks.
