    Win94ae, Williams FP Peep
Shooting the iron sighted Winchester 30-30, 400 yards downrange, at a torso target.

I switched the peep on the rifle to a larger hope, so I could see the target in the woods easier.

It is kinda boring to shoot at the 250 yard targets.

You can see the bullet in this video too, whereas you can see that the arch is a lot more pronounced at 400 yards.

    Win94ae 30-30, See The Bullet

Shooting an 8 inch target with the Win94ae 30-30 at 250 yards... one shot, one kill.

    Win94, Speer 130gr FN, 400 Yards

In my last video I shot 350 yards with the 150gr SST. The next day, on the same sight setting, I tried a Speer 130gr FN to compare. The Speer hit 24 inches higher than the SST.

It didn't make for interesting video...

So today, 3 days and 25ºF later, (deer season kept me from shooting,) I dialed-in 2.5moa down, then extended my range 50 yards to 400 yards, hitting an 8 inch target solidly, (473ft-lbs, (a bit more than my 357 hunting load at the muzzle.))
At around 450 yards this load goes transonic, whereas accuracy fails.
This load is what I prefer to have loaded in my tube magazine.

When there is a "special purpose;" I'll load the SSTs singly.

    ...

This video at 10X zoom makes it easier to see the bullet's path. Although; in the right conditions, the bullet path would be seen at the 4x zoom my last few videos were shot at.

    H4895 Load Test
    Three shots, three kills!

I like this powder so far; accurate and fast... I'm not used to this fast.

My cold-bore velocity was 45fps slower than the fouled bore shots but didn't suffer from differing harmonics.

This load test is after this ladder test.

    30-30 Leveraction
    One shot, one kill!

Next time I try the camera in front, I'll be a bit more to the side and a little closer.

I loaded these cartridges using the least amount of H322 as the manual suggests, I'm just burning this powder up also. I really didn't expect to hit the target the first shot; it hit about 8 inches lower than my Speer 130gr load. I might use a chronograph on it next time to see if the ES is lower than before, (200fps+.)

    Favorite Load

I am getting my POI/POA with the Winchester using the Speer 130gr FN load. These bullets landed 28" above where the 180gr SPs would have.

On the first shot you can see what I think is oil from my barrel. Even though I run a clean patch down the barrel before firing, there is a bit of residue that the bullet picks-up on the way down the barrel, then it leaves a vapor trail on the way to the target.

Anyway; I like this load and think I am going to load for it most of the time. (I still have some 110gr FMJs I got to get rid of.)

    Howa 1500 30-06 Bore
Last time I tried from the prone position it was at 400 yards and I missed. The rifle did fine, it was my mistake so I decided to try a few shots a little closer.

I got a good sight picture and nothing seemed out of place. I will still try a few shorter shots just to see if get a better idea what my problem was last time.

This is a close-up of the Howa's bore.

    Eddystone 30-06, 2 Inch Target, 300 Yards
This is my best iron sighted shot to date. One shot, one kill.

What is cool is that I made the shot with a 92 year old rifle. :)

    Case Life
Cross posted all over the WWW. Please chime-in as to how many times you reload your cases and whatnot.

My most used cases for the 1917 30-06 are Federals, I am on my 24th load, cases annealed 3 times so far. I am thinking on retiring them since the primer pockets are starting to get lose. I have shot all sorts of ladder tests with them and all sorts of loads and bullets from 110gr V-max to 220gr RN. Right now the loads are 168gr A-max at around 2700fps; that load seems to match my sight elevation settings perfectly.

    Cool Shot, Video and Icon

About a week ago I noticed the sun reflecting off of the back of the bullets I was shooting in the morning, so I made a nice video and icon of the effect.

WARNING: I should also mention; these bullets should be loaded individually directly into the chamber, otherwise you run the risk of discharging the cartridges in the tube mag. They are too long to chamber properly from the mag anyway.
