He was going to meet James’ granddaughter. Bloody hell. Sirius paced up and down. Maybe she was a bit like her parents. Hope made him smile. It would be great to have someone who was at least slightly familiar around. The nervousness made his stomach clench. His leg still hurt. It was better, but the pain was still there.

Sirius gripped his hair with a shaky hand. Shit, shit, shit. He sat down to relax his bad leg. But he could not sit still for long. His restlessness got worse every day.

Lily was nervous and excited. She couldn't even explain it. Sirius was a hero in her eyes, but she had never had a chance to meet him. She just hoped he didn't ask why they had never met. Even if he already knew that her grandparents died, she didn't want to have to tell him he died too. Even if he had died a heroic death.

She arrived outside his cabin and took a deep breath before stepping up and knocking on the door. This was very uncharacteristic of her. While she could act sweet and sometimes shy, it was rare for her to actually be that way. But she had never thought she would ever be in this situation.

A knock. Sirius froze in his steps and his heart began to race. He went to the door. This would be a glimpse into a future he and James would never have. What if she looks like them? What if she didn't? He did not know what would be worse.

Sirius tried to calm his nerves and failed miserably. Get a grip, Black. God dammit, since when are you such a coward?

Taking a deep breath, he opened the door. Lily's red hair was the first thing he noticed. This was impossible, it just could not be true. Oh dear god. He forced his lips into a small smile.

"Hi", he said drily.
