Robin Antonio Logan (X-Men/Robin Hood OC) ([info]_little_bird) wrote in [info]ridgewayresort,

Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Who: Logan and Gracey
Where: The room she's staying in
When: Morning; set a few days before all that candid camera fun
What: The morning after a night making sure dreams stay away

He'd chosen to sleep on the couch in the living room outside Gracey's current bedroom, so she could have her privacy, and so that any awkward conversations could be avoided. He could just as easily tell if she was having a bad dream from a room away as if he was in the same room as her. And just as they'd discussed, he'd stayed awake the entire night. She'd only been disturbed by the one dream, and he'd been easily able to change it, to make it a good one instead of a memory he didn't want surfacing for her.

Also, just like he'd said, he could as easily catch up on sleep the following morning. And that was exactly what he was doing. He knew Gracey had been lightly sleeping when he'd dozed off, but that was about an hour ago, and now he was sound asleep. He was too long for the couch, so both his legs were up on the arm, the blanket he was using laying haphazardly across him, the room warm enough that he wasn't chilled wearing a t-shirt and boxers. His glasses were on the coffee table beside him, and his head was tipped sideways, mouth open and almost, but not quite, snoring.

Gracie wasn't sure what it was that woke her up. Though it hardly mattered, as she stretched out with a slow groan. Merle sat up as she slowly eased herself up to sit. She'd left her bedroom door open, just because. There was no reason to close it really. Dressed in footy pyjamas pretty much meant she wasn't out to be sexy. She'd given up that ghost.

Coffee was a demand. And it was in the part of the rent-a-room with Logan. Quietly she shuffled in, shushing Merle as she moved, to be sure the aussie was quiet. Blurry eyed she prepared real coffee, rather than that chicory crap, and set it into the drip.

Shuffling to the couch, she took a moment to cover him better than he was. Feeling a slight pang for what she'd lost. It was going to take a while to wipe that out. But she hoped it would come. Sooner rather than later.

He felt her presence in the room long before she adjusted the blanket over him. He didn't know what it was, maybe just knowing her so well, that alerted him to it. But half asleep, his eyes didn't really seem to want to open. Even though he was waking up it was as though they didn't want him to be.

"Morning Gracey." The words were spoken sleepily as he lifted his arms above his head in a stretch, which only caused the blanket to shift a second time. "Sleep well?"

"I'm sorry I didn't mean to wake you up." She had to apologize. Part of her knew he couldn't have got much sleep. "It was okay. I still haven't got used to sleeping in a strange bed." She'd actually got better sleep in Mickey's house before all the suits came to life. It had been closer to her own bed than the one in the cabin.

Gracie could hardly resist the urge to pinch his toes. Especially after the cover shifted to uncover them again. "You could have slept in there. I tried to wear the least attractive nightclothes I could find." Not that she could sway him anyway. She was sure that was all in the past.

"It's fine," he shrugged. The smell of the coffee she'd put on was actually pretty tempting. "You'd be surprised just how comfortable this couch is." Which was sort of a silly statement when his feet were hanging over the end.

He laughed, toe automatically shifting away from her hold. He had stupidly ticklish feet. "I didn't want to keep you awake. The whole point of this was to give you a chance at a good nights sleep."

"Well if you do it again, I'll take the couch you can have the bed." That was how it should have been anyway, her feet probably didn't hang off the arm like his did.

Now she was temped to tickle his foot, but she kept from doing it. "You know me. I sleep pretty good when I share a bed with you." When he was there... she rarely had a sleepless night. Though she didn't know if he did. Especially when she started flirting.

"I don't mind." It wasn't all that big of a deal, it wasn't as though it was often. He swung his legs over the side, sitting up in the process, leaving the blanket behind.

"Yeah, I know you do." His tone held a hint of wry humour. They could probably both catch the unspoken words between the lines there.

"I know you don't mind. But I do, I'll end up feeling guilty, then you'll end up feeling guilty. It would be one vicious circle." She was mostly teasing. Sticking her tongue out, to push the teasing point.

"I'll have you know I've sworn off the flirting." The only hips she wanted cradling her butt now, weren't his. Hence the unsexy footie pyjamas. Once the percolator stopped perking she scuffled over to the pot. Pouring two coffees, one hazel nut and vanilla cream in hers. In his... Well she knew what he liked... It only took a minute before she brought him that mug carefully offering him the handle.

"It's just the couch, Gracey. It's not that bad." He reached over to the table and got his glasses, putting them on. His sight wasn't terrible, but things were just a bit too blurry without wearing them.

He just raised an eyebrow at that comment without saying anything. "Thanks," he took the mug when she offered it. Black with one sugar, even though it was just coffee, it showed how well they knew each other.

"Tell that to my Mom. How many times was I supposed to take the pallet on the floor, while you took my frufru bed, upstairs, when you spent the night?" Though it never ended up that way. Once her parents were asleep he always managed to coax her in.

"With you." She amended, once she plopped down on the couch beside him propping her feet up on the table. "Tyler's in trouble, of course." She held her mug up close to her nose to inhale the delightful scent, a soft sigh parting her lips. Nothing better smelling than that first cup of coffee in the morning.

"That's just cause she likes me so much," he said with a smirk, taking a sip of the coffee. It was strong, just how he liked it.

"I'll bet he is." Tyler wouldn't know what had hit him. Despite what had happened, he was glad they could still talk like this. He needed his friend.

"That mean your Dad likes me so much?" She couldn't resist making a goofy face at him, crossing her eyes and sticking her tongue out of the corner of her mouth.

"Though.... I don't know. He's very... He's got a romantic side to him. He wants everything to be special with me. When I'm with him." She took a slow sip of her coffee, nice and sweet, more milk than coffee... It was perfect. "He... stopped me."

"Of course he does. You're Heather's daughter, he couldn't not love you." Then again, his Dad had a funny way of liking just about everyone. Logan thought it might have been a long ago picked up habit of making amends for things he thought he'd done wrong.

He looked over at her, taking a sip of his own drink. "I'm glad you're with someone who gives you that, Gracey. You deserve special."

She couldn't help the cheesy grin after that. Even if she didn't feel overly loved these days. That wasn't something she was ready to admit or reveal. Better hide it and lock it away with everything else she'd been storing away lately. With goofy grins and broad smiles.

"Wanna see what I got for him for Christmas?" She waggled her eyebrows. She'd been tempted to get him armor and all that too, but didn't want to go overboard.

He laughed at the grin, he couldn't help it. He liked it when she smiled like that, even if it wasn't a completely real one.

Leaning forward he set his empty coffee mug on the table. "I'd love to." He knew the eyebrow waggle was a tease, but he was happy to play along.

Him laughing at her only served to make the grin grow. Setting her mug down on the table she slid off the couch, getting to her hands and knees. She had gifts tucked away here and there all over the place. Tyler's just happened to be under the couch.

As things often went, fate would chose that moment for something embarrassingly awkward to happen, the button of her never used 'butt flap' popped open. As she grabbed the sword by it's scabbard. She squealed. Reaching behind her to put a hand over the ruffle bum underpants she'd taken to wearing, for the need of cute between all the ick she'd shoveled lately. "Sorry! I'm not trying to Moon you on purpose!"

When the back of her pajamas fell open he laughed so hard he probably would have fallen off the couch if he'd been sitting on the edge.

"I believe you," he said with a grin, trying to contain his amusement. He saw the sword where she was holding it with one hand. "You got him a sword?"

It was almost worth exposing her backside to hear him laugh so hard. She hadn't realized she missed the sound till she heard it again. Standing, she turned her back to him. "To me a favor, and rebutton that?" It wasn't exactly the easiest thing in the world to do when wearing the pyjamas.

"Yeah. It's custom, there's a shop in Downtown Disney. I had it weighted and everything so it would fit him better than his Dad's do." She held it out so that once he buttoned her, he could look at it.

He offered her an amused smile, reaching for the little bit of material and pushing the press stud buttons back in to place. If it was anyone else, he might have said no. But not with her.

He stood when she held out the sword, so he could hold it more easily. His fingers wrapped around the hilt in a sure grip, the other hand around the scabbard, drawing the sword out slowly and holding it up to look. "It's beautiful, Gracey. He'll love it." It did remind him of Guys, except for the extravagant design between hilt and blade. His Dad's sword was in the trunk at the foot of his bed, though he often used it still, and cleaned it frequently. Time had apparently taken away the habit of wearing it every day.

When he pulled the material up she moved her hand out of the way. Usually she wasn't modest with Logan. But things had changed between them, rather drastically, so now she took more caution to prove that she wouldn't venture out of her little box if she could help it.

"I hope so." She actually felt a blush creep over her cheeks. "You don't think the inscription is a bit much?" She was really growing to like Tyler a lot... She had liked him before, he was attractive, and sweet. But... since her stay in the clinic, they'd started to form into something different.

"What? No, it's perfect. It's not as though you're proposing with it or anything," he said lightly to show he was joking. But there was nothing wrong with writing love like that. It could mean as much or as little as Tyler wanted it to.

He moved a few steps away from her so he could swing the sword in front of him. He could tell from the weight it was a good sword. "Can't have been cheap," he commented as he slid it back in to its scabbard.

"No, it wasn't, but you can't take it with you." She shrugged. All those nights in the Ice Room had to mean something. If it meant she could buy her honey something nice for their first Christmas together, it did her better than just accumulating.

"Yours wasn't cheap either." But she wasn't going beyond that hint. Ashley's might have been the most expensive, if she didn't have family building it, so it would be just right.

"Fair call." If she wanted to buy expensive, and thoughtful, gifts for people, why shouldn't she? If he could ever decide what to get people he'd do the same. Then again, hers hadn't exactly been cheap either.

He raised an eyebrow at her attempt at baiting him. "Neither was yours."

"Hey, just because I spend the big bucks doesn't mean you should." She teased. Besides it wasn't the cost that mattered, right? It was the thought that was put behind the gift.

She sat back down on the couch, retrieving her mug before setting her feet up on the table.

"It wasn't about the money. I got what I got because it's right for you." Whenever he helped his Dad out at the range, he gave him some of his pay. It wasn't like they needed a lot of it anyway, and over the years they'd gotten a lot built up, between he and Marian.

Now she was curious. "I guess I'll just have to wait until Christmas to find out." She knew she couldn't poke at him till he told her. That it would only serve to annoy him. And her.

No they were comfortable right now. No need to add tension when there didn't need to be any.

"No plans yet." He'd gone on a whole lot of rides with Ash the day before, but there was only so much of that he was interested in. He'd probably go and see Bea later, but he wasn't sure yet.

"Oh yeah? What one did you take him on?" She would have paid to see that. What would her Uncle Woobie think of all this?

"Mom's been riding all the kiddie rides, because hardly any of those have a pregnancy warning." And she'd been spending a lot of time with her Dad. But when didn't they? "I hope I find someone that loves me like that." She said absently.

"The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror. Twice." He'd been as thrilled by it as Logan himself had. "It was so funny seeing him on that ride, and then imagining him as this guy who lived in the forest and fought in a war and...it was just funny."

He turned his head to look at her at that comment, offering her a gentle smile. "You will, Gracey. I know you will." He didn't know yet whether it would be Tyler, but it would happen. It had almost been him. Still was, in a way.

"You couldn't pay me to get on that one." Not once. She got a little twitchy even thinking about it. No she'd have to be bound and gagged, and then dragged.

She wasn't so sure about that. Shaking her head she almost whispered. "Apparently I come off a bit shallow." She was trying not to be bothered by that fact. But it was the only way to figure out why two people she'd liked, even if one was a little less than the other, would think that she was too good for them.

"I bet I could convince you." Well, that was actually not something that needed to be bet. He could, and easily. But he was talking through nothing but usual methods.

He frowned at that. "You're not shallow." He slipped an arm around her shoulders, pulling her against his side. "I wouldn't be best friends with someone who was shallow." He pressed a quick kiss to the top of her head.

"And how do you think you could go about doing that?" Her eyebrows rose, she had her doubts. In fact she knew there wasn't a person on the resort that could convince her with normal means.

Shifting her mug into a safer position she settled against his side. "Then I don't understand why... Not just one, but two people would think I was so out of reach." It didn't make sense.

He just shrugged a shoulder noncommittally and didn't answer, the hint of a smile on his face.

"I think," he told her as she settled against him, "that it's because you're such a good person, Gracey." Even if she did over react to certain things. Everyone had their flaws. "That sort of goodness can be a bit intimidating. How do you live up to something that good."

She lifted her head from his shoulder just enough to give him the look of a skeptic, for both, him getting her on that ride, and the fact that her being such a good person drove people away. It didn't make sense either.

"I don't think you actually do. But do they know that they don't have to worry? Or do they feel like they should, because it's what you deserve? You need to give people credit for being just as nervous about things as you might be, Gracey." That was one thing she needed to remember. She wasn't the only one who could be worried, or insecure.

She couldn't help but pout, somewhat petulantly. "Then maybe I shouldn't be so good. Cause I'd like to be the pursued at least once." She knew she didn't like being put on a shelf like that. The shelf was damn lonely.

"How do I get out of that... Peg?" What else did you call it? She didn't want to be pegged as someone who was too good.

"I don't think you understand, Gracey. Being something you're not for the sake of being pursued...people can see right through that."

He was quiet for a minute, before he spoke again. "Maybe in your position, if you don't want to be...kept on that shelf," he knew he was using her thoughts there but it was a good description of what she was feeling, "then you need to be the one to step up and say something."

She had to completely stop herself from saying something negative. It hardly phased her when he used what she'd been thinking. It seemed almost natural. "What can I say in a situation like that? Don't hold me to such high regard? Don't treat me like a china doll? It's not fair, that I have to be treated differently from every other girl here just because I'm... a good person." To use his words.

"I want the thrill of some guy liking me enough to actually ask me out. Instead of me freaking out weather or not he likes me enough to say yes if I do." She didn't want to be the one that made the first move all the time. There was only so much rejection that she could take.

And the damnedest part about how it was with him, is no one bothered to clue her in until it was too late. "I'm trying to be." She answered honestly. Because there was little point in not being honest with him. "But it's hard to be happy with anything really."

She shrugged with a shallow lift of her shoulders. "I'm happy when I'm with him. But..." She trailed off.
