Who: Gabriel and Anna
What: Playing pre-midwife
Where: Anna’s place
When: The day the baby pops, maybe.
Rating: TBD
Status: Incomplete.

The book was upside down. He could read it just fine but it amused him it was upside down. People would assume it was a prop to hide his attentions but Gabriel was enjoyed about reading self-induced trance and it's applications on public transport.

He was in Anna's room again and he felt completely as ease. He liked Anna's room. It got the morning sun and faced the lake. It was very much like a paining he once admired. And also a jigsaw puzzle. He crossed his heals on the ottoman (which may or may not have been there before he arrived) and licked his finger to turn the page.

"Good morning, sister," he said vaguely as he started the chapter of trance and sex.

"It's three in the afternoon and I haven't been to sleep yet." Anna rolled over, hand supporting her baby bump as she moved. She tucked her arm under her head and nudged Johan to get him off her feet. She was uncomfortable enough without a three hundred pound Hound squishing her and making her legs twist.

She sighed, reaching out for her phone to find that it was suddenly not within reach. "Will you hand me that?"

"Hmmm," Gabriel said vaguely and the phone was in her hand. "Do you want to sleep?" he offered. "It would make the boring bit go faster." He turned another page.

That was what being a midwife was, right? A lot of waiting followed by a bit of shoving and screaming. Like sex and war.

Anna checked her phone and then remembered why it was out of her reach in the first place. She grumbled and threw it across the room. No reason to bother checking that again. It was going to stay frustrating and she really didn't need that right now.

"I can sleep. I just... I can. You don't need to mojo me." Anna sighed, casting another glance at her phone. She felt like crap, physically and emotionally. But at least it had been a full thirty minutes since her last contraction. Rolling over again, Anna dropped her hand over the side of the bed before remembering that she didn't have a cat to call anymore. Awesome.

Gabriel watched the phone go sailing by without comment and went back to his book. He already knew what was going on.

"If you say," he said, turning the book on it's edge to study a particular interesting picture. "Well, you can do that. I can wait here." He watched her hand fall and thought of Sebastian and thought of Cas and frowned. Ridiculous business. They really were all silly little children. "I'll wake you if things get interesting," he promised.

"I think if things get interesting, I'll know before you do. It'll be my ovaries trying to turn inside-out." Anna buried her face into the pillow. She was exhausted. It wasn't even a physical exhaustion, it was purely emotional. She didn't even know how she felt about anything right now except that she wanted to cry herself asleep and Gabriel's presence made that more and more difficult. She wasn't going to break down into tears in front of her brother because he'd expect her to talk about her feelings and try to fix them. And she didn't want to. She just wanted to stop feeling like this.

"If things get interesting I might even put my book down," he said looking over the top of it as his sister. He was hardly surprised that Crowley was about a supportive a boy friend as Gabriel thought he would be. The baby he was interested in, something he could mould to his grand little self image, but Anna was just the means to an end. If there was more than that, Gabriel was sure, the dad would be a tad less dismissive.

Not being in the delivery room he could understand but the jerk could have sent some flowers. Or some gravy powder.

"Tell your ovaries to let you get some sleep."

"Wouldn't want to get amniotic fluid on your book." Anna shifted until her back was to her brother. Johan hopped off the bed and lay down so that her hand was on his head. Of course he wanted petted now. Anna let her fingers scratch behind his ears and sighed again.

"My ovaries aren't being a problem. I told you it was just a false alarm. No baby today. Not right now anyway." She wouldn't put it past Crowley's kid to surprise her right when she started to get some sleep, but he definitely wasn't coming right now.

"Oh you can get that right out with a bit of Lemon Pledge. And I'm comfortable now. I can sit here and read without some squalling baby interrupting my peace so why would I want to go?" he pointed out reasonably. "It's nice here, just the thing." He sighed as he stretched his legs a little. "Now, you just sleep and not have a baby. I'll eat some cheese and biscuits and entertain myself, deal?"

"Yeah, sure." Anna sighed. It had nothing to do with Gabriel. She just wasn't feeling great at the moment. She had her phone back, having materialized it herself a few moments ago. But even talking to Robin didn't help much. At least it was a distraction, though. And maybe he could convince Gabriel to stop hovering. "Robin's bringing me chocolate in a minute or so."

Robin entered Anna's cabin, not knocking first because he knew she was in her room anyway, waiting for Much to follow him inside before shutting the door behind him. He had a plastic container containing the brownies in one hand, the box of chocolate balanced on top of that, and a small bunch of yellow roses on top of all that. Mostly because of their joking about him being sweet, and because she'd seemed to like them, the last time.

He headed up the stairs, not bothering to see if Much was following (he always did), to see that her door was already open. He stopped in the doorway, eyes passing over the odd image Gabriel presented with his upside down book with an amused smile before they settled on Anna. Much didn't bother stopping in the doorway, immediately running over to meet his previous acquaintance, sniffing what to Robin looked like nothing but air. "I missed all the excitement, did I?"

Anna sat up, probably too quickly, at the sight of Much running over to see Johan. The Hellhound actually wagged his tail as he went to sniffing Much in return. It was adorable. Or at least she thought it was adorable. Anna was probably the only one who thought that Johan was adorable, everyone else seemed to want to kill him.

Although Anna was more focused on the fact that Robin was here. Finally. Despite telling him not to show up earlier, she was kind of glad he was here anyway. Especially since he brought brownies, and chocolates. "And roses? You brought me roses, Robin? You're secretly a big softie, you know that?" She probably shouldn't have been moving, but Anna scooted to the edge of the bed, holding out her hands and reaching toward him - whether she was reaching for him or the candy and flowers was up for debate.

He laughed at that, moving over to the bed and sitting beside her as he passed her the flowers, sparing a glance at Much, making sure he wasn't making too much mischief. He was a strange little dog, but Robin was completely attached to him now. "I do what I can to maintain the image," he joked.

"You're okay?" He asked her. He didn't know how long she'd want him here, but he'd let her have her way in this instance.
