Cas didn't move when Dean came in but he returned a tired smile. "His breathing has been ok but he's still well and truly out of it. Reckon he must be exhausted." Cas wasn't just trying to be reassuring. He actually believed fatigue was playing a part. He knew how exhausted he was when he lost his Grace. All he wanted to do was sleep.

"He will," Cas said, certainty in his voice. Some of that was forced. He really didn't know when Sam would make up. If...

"Sleep well? Jo OK?" Cas was really starting to miss closeness with his lovers. He knew now wasn't the time to bring it up but they had been in coping mode for days and he felt... off. He took a deep breath and turned his attention back to Sam. In a week, when Sam was sitting down to dinner with them, he wasn't gonna care about his unease now.
