Who: Tony and coma!Gibbs, open to Abby, McGee, Heather, anyone else who wants to drop by
When: Afternoon/heading in to the evening
Where: The clinic
What: Seeing Gibbs in a coma. A-freaking-gain.
Rating: Low, maybe some swearing?

Tony was standing at the foot of the bed Gibbs was laying in, hands wrapped around the frame so tight his knuckles were white. This was not an experience he'd ever planned on living through twice. He wouldn't blame Abby. She hadn't known what would happen. And besides which, she was distressed enough by all this enough as it was. She didn't need anyone trying to make her feel guilty.

The silence of the room was periodically broken by the hissing of the ventilator those damned Oompa Loompas had hooked Gibbs up to. He'd gotten them to drag some at least semi comfortable chairs in here for the others. He didn't think he wanted to sit. He didn't really want to move. He felt sick, a knot in his stomach. This was Gibbs. It had been hard enough to fathom anything happening to him the first time. He was supposed to be invincible, indestructible. He was Tony's boss, his leader, his confidant, and he might even go so far as to say his friend, these days.

He didn't particularly want to lay any of this crap at Heather's feet. But he knew he wouldn't mind the company. Abby and McGee weren't faring much better than he was, from the looks of them.

Abby was horrified that her wish had turned into this. She'd just wanted to see Gibbs again, whether here or back at NCIS, though her mind had said that if he were here, none of them would be for very much longer. Apparently someone had wanted to prove her wrong. Stuck somewhere between complete despondence and anger, she was folded into one of the chairs by Gibbs's head, knees pressed to her chest, one arm wound about her legs. She didn't say anything, eyes focused intently on Gibbs. This was not good. Not good at all.

She'd been talking to him for hours, trying to get her Gibbs to come back, to no avail. For the moment, Abby was just there for him, her free hand gently clasping his. He had to get better. Now.

Tim had very nearly dropped everything when Abby had mentioned Gibbs being in a coma. Though he'd managed to stop and grab one of the laptops from the computer room, and it's charger. He hadn't bothered with changing his clothes or anything else. He figured if he had the computer he could look things up about coma patients. How to best bring them out. If it was even possible. He'd found some could come out with a shot of adrenaline to heart, but with Gibbs age... It could be dangerous. It was always best to just let them wake up on their own.

Closing the screen to the lap top he looked from Tony to Abby. It was really hard on them to see their Boss this way. He'd come over in his pyjamas. The fuzzy bottoms to the second part of the gift Heather had gotten for him. He was just glad he'd worn the onsey Abby had gotten him the previous night, no doubt he wouldn't ever live that down if Tony saw him in them.

Though... He somewhat lamented that he didn't. Tony looked like, out of the three of them, he could use the cheering up. He wet his lips. "So... Short of giving him a shot of adrenaline there isn't much that can be done." He felt the need to say something. Anything. It was far to quiet. The beep and hiss of the machines attached to Gibbs too much by itself. He hoped to open some sort of conversion, beyond the oneway conversation Abby was having.

Tony looked up from studying the pattern in the blanket covering Gibbs feet when McGee spoke, looking over at him for a second before his eyes drifted back to Gibbs face.

"Thanks for that McHopeful, any other pearls of wisdom you'd like to offer up?" His hands twisted further around the rail beneath his hand, making a quiet squeaking noise. After a minute he looked over at McGee again, the apology clear on his face. "Maybe something else will work. This is Gibbs after all."

Sad eyes darted from Gibbs's face at the comment, though her hand still kept tight hold of his, lower lips pushing itself out slightly. This was all her fault, and she knew it.

"There's got to be something," Abby agreed, her normally gravelly voice sounding a bit hoarser than usual, tears barely held back as her gaze moved back to the man lying so still in bed. "Come on, Gibbs."

He flinched from Tony's words. Leaning forward, so that his forearms rested against his knees. He hid his face a little, "I didn't mean it like that." He couldn't help but sound a little glum. "He's not supposed to be like this. Not here."

Not anywhere. His eyes cut up to Abby. He hated seeing her like this. Where was her knight? Why wasn't he here with her? No doubt Tony had Heather coming. He didn't have anyone that would be coming for him. No one that would come... hold his hand.

"I know you didn't, Probie." His voice was quieter when he answered, his gaze remaining on Gibbs this time. He had to snap out of this, he was supposed to be the Senior Field Agent, there for his team. Not bringing them down.

Standing up straighter, he looked over at Abby. "He'll wake up, Abby. Before you know it. He can't go much longer without his coffee, you know that."

It wasn't, by any stretch, the first scene like this Gabriel had walked in on, but it was the first time he kinda wanted to hug everyone in the room. It was a weird feeling and he hoped it passed (except in Abby's case). He knew that old feeling of fear, dread and strained hope. He decided it just had to go. After all, what kind of welcome was that? "Sorry, kittens, Dr House couldn't make it. You'll have to make do with me."

Gabriel wasn't bristling with his usual confidence. He didn't like the amount of pressure on this moment, he didn't like the feeling in the room, he didn't like being careful. He looked at Tony. "You're right about that. The man needs an incentive! This place has no vim!" He spun on the spot to address Abby. "You're in change of music. What's the most annoying stuff you have, you know, the stuff Gibbs always turned off when he walked into the lab, or at least glared at if he was in a good mood? You don't need to go anywhere, just think about it and it shall be done."

He turned to Tim, looking like a kicked puppy. "Timmy, I need coffee that could chew through iron. In a cup. A big cup." Then he turned to Tony, moving closer to his friend. "And you, Scarecrow, I need your voice." Gabriel didn't know if anything he was trying would be of any use but it was better than leaving that dread hovering around that room. He also hoped Tony didn't punch him down. If he did, he may just let the bruise stick.

Tony wasn't sure if he was grateful for Gabriel's presence or not. If he gave it enough thought he guessed he'd settle on being grateful. At least it was a change from the hushed conversation and the damned hissing of the ventilator. Tony was used to putting on a façade. He was always picked for the undercover jobs for a reason. But he knew some of his friends, and in particular the one who had just stepped through the door, could see through it in a second if he wanted to.

He looked over at the Archangel in surprise at both what he called him, and what he said. "Legs is already getting all that stuff, why do you need my voice?" It was a statement and a question all in one, but Wings would figure it out.

"Legs already got all that stuff. But, she could use a little help with it." Heather had shoved her way into the clinic with her hands full, two pizzas balanced on one upturned palm, three plastic bags dangling from the same upturned palm. Over her free shoulder was a backpack that was rather bulging in odd places. Perhaps she'd over done it. But... She could always take some of the stuff home. Over doing meant she didn't have to go back for anything.

Her eyes caught onto one of the strongest men she knew, on screen. Her smile faltered just a little, but she firmed it back up. She would do what she had to do to be strong for Tony, for Abby, and for McGee. Even if it meant being in the same room as TDC. Sure he'd been great in New York... But he still gave her the creeps. She didn't completely trust him. But she'd seen him with Abby, the way he looked at her. So if it made Abby feel better, then, damn it she wouldn't be selfish.

"I talked to Cas about some comfort food for later too. Maybe with all these great smells Gibbs will sit up and ask for a plate."

Abby wouldn't be touching the food. How could she eat when Gibbs was just laying there? And she knew Heather was trying, but she didn't truly think there was much they could do to wake him up. Gibbs was stubborn that way.

Shifting her position slightly, wide eyes looked up at Heather, her lower lip jutting out for a brief moment before she moved to help, eyes warning anyone who even thought about it not to take her seat. "Or tell everyone to get out."

He had gotten Heather's message, but he had already been on his way. A brief, yet troubling, conversation with Abby previously had told him there was little doubt that he was needed. He had stopped in the grocer, to pick out some flowers. Yet.... He wasn't exactly sure what you got someone who was in hospital, let alone another man. So he chose something green and rather survivable, should it miss being watered from time to time, and attractive. Still he felt odd doing so.

He followed shortly behind Heather, the potted plant clasped in one hand, a single black rose in the other. The room was bursting, or so it seemed to him, with people. Was this what it was like to be loved by so many? Sure it was only himself and five others... But not a single soul, besides Abby, had visited him when he had been in the clinic. Clearing his throat he shifted into the room, out of the way, as the others moved to help Robin's friend. He would wait until everything was settled once more before he spoke.

Tony almost let himself breathe a sigh of relief when he heard Heather's voice. Regardless of anything else, he would be grateful to have her presence here. Her worrying, her over thinking, and her general inability to be anything but excessively caring about other people, even those she'never met, were all things that he, and everyone in this room, could use.

He glanced over as Abby moved to help her with her many packages, but it wasn't long before his gaze shifted back to Gibbs. He couldn't take his eyes off of him. Last time, he'd had an investigation to head up, never mind that certain occupants of this very room had reminded him time and again that he hadn't been up to it, that he wasn't Gibbs. This time, there was nothing else he could focus on. And so Gibbs was his focus.

He could smell the pizza Heather had brought with her, but the thought of food right now was wholly unappealing.

He didn't have to say much, truly. The man had a way of sticking out like a sore thumb. Still, Abby wasn't complaining. Instead, setting Heather's supplies down, she moved towards him, arms winding tightly around his torso.

She didn't need to tell him how grateful she was he had come. In fact she didn't need to say much at all, just trying to find some small comfort for however brief a time.

"Or tell us all to get back to work." He couldn't help but smile at the possibility. Sure they weren't in DC but that wouldn't stop Gibbs from telling them off, or giving them the look until they all went scattering.

He stood to help Heather out. Carefully taking the oddly misshapen book bag. It wasn't overly heavy but the way it was shaped he wouldn't be surprised if..."Is there cake in here?" He'd only heard about the cake. And read about it... And strangely enough the thought of it made him more hungry than the smell of pizza did.

When he got a smile and a nod from Tony's girlfriend. He opened the bag and pulled out the plastic cake plate. He couldn't smell it and his mouth was watering. Setting it on the rolling food tray he pulled out other things that were in the bag. Cups, plates, mugs, a small coffee pot, the percolating sort- no doubt Gibbs would like that one over the more modern machines... A block of wood and something a little strange, he didn't recognize it as anything he'd seen before. Holding it up he questioned. "Uh, what's this?"

"We'll take that right? The man telling us to get the hell out of his room? So why not be nice and unappealing, obnoxious and smelly?" Gabriel knew there were times for reverent silence and times for just being a noisy dick. It wasn't hard to guess what he thought this was.

He smiled at Heather, a dazzling smile, half bravado, half joy at her presence. Tony wasn't the only one who somehow felt better when she was around.

He, too, ignored the cake (an indication of how worried he really was) but he delighted at seeing the coffee. That would be far more use. He watched Timmy empty the bag, watched Tony's anxious face, watched Abby and her curious choice of boyfriend, watched Gibbs' chest chest rise and fall. He moved closer to the sleeping man. "Good to meet you, sir," he said casually. "If you're looking for some heads to slap you've come to the right place."

Tony felt the ridiculous urge to tell Feathers to get the hell away from Gibbs when he stepped closer to the bed, and in the same moment wondered where it had come from. His hands still gripped the frame at the end of the bed, as if it would get away from him if he didn't, or maybe that he might run from the room if he wasn't attached to the furniture.

"Don't call him sir," he finally said to Gabriel in a slightly hoarse voice, stealing Gibbs own line as he continued, "He works for a living."

Gabriel was well aware of the tension in Tony's arms. He was secretly glad his friend didn't order him away. That... was significant. "I can assure you both that those who carried that title used to work for it, anyway, don't know about you but I'm not here to make him comfortable. He's already that. You want him awake he needs to see it's worth his while. It's why I need your voice." He turned his head to look at Tony.

"Why don't you have a chat? Tell him about all the extra special things you've been doing since you got here."

As soon as her hands were free, it only took her a minute to cross over to the man who had claims on her heart. Offering a brilliant grin to Gabriel as she did. They would have to be the light in this room, there was no doubt about that. She wasn't sure what Tony needed right then, what he would accept. She wanted to wrap her arms around him and not let go... But that was a little big for the room. Instead what she did do was small. Her arm slipped along his waist. From behind.

Looking up along Gibbs laying prone. This was the last way she would have wanted to meet someone who meant so much to Tony. Unable to help herself, she tentatively reached out, with her free hand, and lightly closed her fingers around the curve in the blanket that were Gibbs toes. "It's Gibbs or Boss. Though he'd probably tell us that he's not our boss." Mentally she begged Wake up Gibbs, please wake up.

Glancing over at Tim as he sat patiently with her little invention in his hand. "That little thing will produce the smell of sawdust, without all the mess. All you have to do is plug it into the block of wood, and turn it quickly enough that it cuts into the wood, it'll make little wood curly cues but they smell great when you burn them. But you have to be careful because the sharp edge is really really sharp." She figured it was something the older gentleman before her would appreciate, it was fully manual after all.

Her eyes cut to Abby and Guy. He had looked mildly uncomfortable until Abby wrapped her arms around him. She wouldn't ever say so to Robin or... Well anybody, but it was good to see the other wise cold man's face light up.

"Gibbs," he added, corrected, after Heather told Gabriel what to call him. "Just call him Gibbs." He then focused on the other part of what Gabriel had said to him. "The last thing he wants to hear is me talking about that..." He nearly said that shit, but with the woman with her arms currently wrapped around his waist within range of hearing, he would hardly call the things that had been happening to him shit. Mundane things, maybe.

"Maybe if we had a case to tell him about," he added absently as his eyes dropped to Heather's fingers at Gibbs toes.

"Are you saying this place is short on mystery?" Gabriel asked Tony. "There's a lot here worth waking up for. I mean I could muster up a body if you like, promise I won't tell you who did it but we could always make something up? Anyway, not my call, Noz. You know him. Say whatever you think will work. Just... let him hear your voice." Gabriel was aiming for a balance between encouragement and urgency. They all seemed so afraid. That wasn't gonna cut it.

It was easy to just wrap his flower laden arms around her, as she hugged him. He dusted a kiss across Abby's brow. "Everything will be alright, love, you'll see." It was the only comfort he could offer. How could things not be alright? Could anyone hurt her so badly? If Petersen did he would be more than happy to run the man through.

He offered a brief smile over Abby's head, to Gabriel. Sure he stood out, but not as much as he would before he had met her. Dressed in the denims and a button down shirt that she had selected for him. "Everybody wakes up from sleep eventually. Perhaps... Perhaps he was extra tired when he was brought here." His voice extra soft, as if he were only speaking to her. Knowing the others could still hear him. If the mans nearly white hair and aged face was any sign, he had seen quite a few summers.

His eyes moved from the one they were calling Gibbs, to Tony, and back to Gabriel before his attention snapped back to Abby.

He set the little.... thing off to one side. He wasn't much into hand tools but he'd definitely give it a try later. Standing up he began to move things around. He wasn't used to sitting still so much, especially with Gibbs around. So he set up the Coffee pot on the same table that the Pizzas got sat on. Rooting through one of the plastic bags he found the had grinder, it was manual, he couldn't help but grin at that. He pulled out the bag of coffee, creamer, sugar ad a bag of hazel nuts, which were no doubt for Tony. All this was sat beside the coffee maker.

"Hey Abbs, Heather brought you some Caf-pow in a can. And one of those wrap things that you like." He hoped he could encourage her to eat something. He set each to one side, surprised that the cans were cold. He pulled out the plastic silverware. And rolled up the plastic bags so that they could be reused later.

Opening the bag of beans he took a whiff, though he almost didn't have too. "Wow. This should definitely wake Gibbs up." He commented as he filled the little grinder with the beans, and started twisting it effectively crushing them.

Whether Gibbs could hear him or not wasn't something Tony was sure about. It wasn't something he waned to speculate on either. Unlike Ziva, and Ducky and even Jenny, he hadn't gotten time alone with Gibbs last time, to just sit and talk to his Boss.

"Hey Boss," he finally addressed the man laying in the bed in front of him, his tone as casual as when he was approaching his desk with an update on a case. "You know you're really making more of a scene than you like. Abby's upset." He paused for a minute, glancing down. "And you know you've got McSpill messing with your coffee. That can't end well."

Gabriel knew this was his time to be quiet and back off. He'd done his bit and Tony was talking, sounding very much like he did on that amusing little show. The angel moved over to stand by Timmy, drawn to the spectical but, also, not wanting too many eyes on Tony when he was already having to pick his every work.

"You're doin' OK there, Timmy, that should have the paint off the walls in no time." His voice was soft now, not wanting to drown any of them out. There was no need. They were doing, each in their own way. No longer staring, no longer waiting. He wasn't sure it would be enough but it was something and something was better than the oppressive ass-fest he'd walked into. Who would wanna open their eyes to that.

He spared a smile for Guy. The way he was, wrapped around Abby, it looked right. He wouldn't tell Robin that but Abby didn't look scared or apprehensive, she looked comforted by his presence. Gabriel knew, from experience, that meant a lot.

Abby didn't bother responding to Guy's statement. Gibbs tired? Sure, it must happen some times, but it hardly seemed like it. He was always going, that man.

Shaking her head, she shifted slightly, turning her gaze to McGee without releasing Guy. "I'm not hungry, McGee." Her voice was soft, lacking a bit of the normal energy. And however much she knew she should be eating, she really couldn't find the desire to eat. The smell alone was just making her a bit nauseous.

"He knows you're not Abby." Tony directed a fairly significant look in McGee's direction as he said that, the meaning clear. Now was not the time to pester her, regardless of any feelings there. He then focused on Abby again. "It's just there for when you are again."

There was no shame in being hungry in this situation, if you were. This wasn't like television. If you were hungry, you were hungry. It just so happened that he wasn't at the moment, and could understand why Abby wasn't either.

His eyes were drawn to Gibbs once more, even as he brought up a hand to cover Heathers, where it was wrapped around his waist. He was thankful for all she'd done.

Her fingers wiggled just a little beneath his, as she gave him a very light squeeze. "Think Gibbs would get mad it I tickled the bottom of his foot?" She asked quietly, she didn't want to do it out of lack of respect, but often a coma patient would respond in someway to such stimulus. She knew some reaction would go miles in revealing some of their tension. But she wouldn't if Tony didn't think it was wise.

Catching her lower lip, for a moment before she spoke to their Boss. "Gibbs... You don't know me, so I don't know that you'd like me. But... You have some great people that would love to see you wake up. And I do know enough about you to know those machines have to be pissing you off. And I'm betting those Oompa Loompas aren't feeding you stake." She didn't know why she felt the urge to speak. She just did.

She eased her thumb over the ball of the covered foot beneath her hand. Not a tickle. Not a caress really... Just a encouragement. Just something. Feeling the digits jerk against her palm she gasped. Pulling her hand away as she did. Bright blues wide.

He sucked in a breath, seeing Gibbs toes move, eyes fixed on his Boss's foot for a second before they snapped up to look at his face. Finally releasing the grip he still had with one hand on the frame of the bed, he disentangled himself from Heather's grasp, moving closer to the head of the bed.

"Do that again," he requested of Heather, eyes still on Gibbs. "Boss? You liked that talk of steak?"

She wasn't surprised at Tony's reaction. Wetting her lips she placed her hand over Gibbs foot again. Holding her breath she eased her thumb over the ball of his foot, just like she had before. When she got the same reaction, she grinned. "Either he likes the idea of steak or he would like a foot massage. It's hard to say. Cause it's not like he's jerking away."

Wetting her lips again she ventured to ask. "So, Gibbs, which is it? Steak? Or are you needing a foot rub." The steak she could see him asking for... A foot rub? While he might enjoy it... She couldn't see the older man asking for it.

Gabriel smiled a little and stayed quiet, only watching intently. All they had to do was make some noise. Not be afraid to touch him.

The wonder of the human brain. It had it's own timing and didn't care spit for your worried friends. Gabriel's powers were no use here, just as Jim's had been no use. It was up to the humans to tend there own and too right too.

He was just the moral support. He moved to the back of the room and leaned against the wall. Just one of the guys. It was strange to be the only one in the room without any power, for once.

Glancing over in time to see Gibbs' foot twitch, Abby pulled back from Guy with a soft squeeze. She liked him holding her, but Gibbs was registering as more important on her radar right now.

With Tony on one side of the bed, she moved to the other, taking hold of his hand again. She wouldn't ever say it aloud, but the fact that he'd moved when Heather had touched him and not when Abby had been talking to him and holding his hand for hours...it hurt. It was irrational; she knew Gibbs couldn't control the coma, but still.

Hand squeezed his before, impulsively, Abby bent, pressing a quick kiss to Gibbs' cheek. "C'mon," she whispered, eyes intently studying his face for any sign of a difference. "Lady asked you a question." And Gibbs was a gentleman. A bit rough around the edges, but a gentleman.

He was just sliding the carafe into the coffee maker, having ignored Tony's crack at him screwing up Gibbs coffee. He'd spilled it enough times and had to go get more to know how Gibbs liked it.

Placing Abby's wrap on top of the cans of Caf-pow, so that they would keep it cold, before he tied them together int he same bag. He was arranging the different items when the commotion started, over Gibbs moving. Jerking around as Tony moved, his eyes widened just a little bit, as he watched Heather stroke over the ball of Gibbs' foot. His mouth dropped open when he saw their Boss' toes move for a second time.

He watched as Abby moved over to the other side. "Abby Abby, stroke your fingers over his palm. The reason he isn't responding to his hands is because of the calluses." He turned his own hand over and rubbed his own soft palm to demonstrate. "But his palm should be soft."

"Don't let Gibbs hear you saying that Probie," Tony automatically retorted, but there was more of his usual joking in it this time. They had a sign of hope now, even if it was only a small one. "Keep making that coffee." He wanted to see if that had any impact. He doubted it, but hell it was worth a shot. He realised he'd slipped back in to bossing the Probester around as if they were on a case, but he couldn't really help it in situations like this. He doubted McGee would take it personally.

Looking over at Abby, seeing the tentative expression on her face, he offered her a smile. "You ready for this Abby? Once he's here there'll be no getting rid of him," he joked. As his eyes moved down to Gibbs toes again they were drawn back to Heathers face, and he offered her the first smile since she'd gotten here. It wasn't huge, but it was there.

"I don't want to get rid of him," Abs retorted, eyes darting to Tony for a moment before returning to Gibbs' hand, resting in her own. A deep breath as she tried to tell herself not to get too worked up. It was entirely possible that he wouldn't respond.

Still, her fingers slowly traced one of the lines in his palm, and then she almost gasped as his fingers closed around hers. "Gibbs." It was almost an exhale, relief shining through in her tone.

She sank into the chair right there, her other hand moving up to clasp his hand in hers.

He wasn't sure what to do with himself. So he simply set the plant on an empty surface, and leaned against the wall beside Gabriel. Holding the rose before him as an invitation should she want to return to his arms anytime. He didn't miss the hurt that worked over her face. And was quite glad to see it go once the older gentleman squeezed her hand.

"Perhaps he simply needs a long rest?" He offered quietly. No doubt the man moving was a good thing. It definitely meant he wasn't dead. If the machines that made different noises were any indication of that. He couldn't imagine living with the aid of machines though. It wasn't a way he would want to go.

Heather's smile doubled in size when Tony responded with a small one. She stroked over Gibbs foot again. And when it responded, yet again, she gave a small nervous giggle. "Tony... It might irritate him but... I don't see Gibbs liking all these machines. Take your finger and put it under his nose. See if you can feel if he's breathing through his nose at all. If he is, he might be able to breath on his own and the tube can be removed." She paused chewing her lower lip. "Or that one can, that way when he does wake up he doesn't choke on it trying to get it out."

How great was this? If anyone gave Petersen a hard time getting him here, it would be Gibbs. And if it helped wake him up, then she wouldn't object to giving the old man a foot rub. "Lets just hope he doesn't decide to catch up on all the sleep he's missed over the years." She joked, though it might have been a bad one, in response to what Gisborne said. But she knew that wasn't how comas worked. He could wake up whenever. In the next few moments, tomorrow, a week from now... She didn't dare go beyond that even in her mind.

Abs just shook her head. It was Gibbs, he didn't need sleep. Just extra strong coffee. She hated seeing him like his. Fingers moved against his palm once more, smile widening as his fingers squeezed more tightly, almost as if he were trying to stop the action.

"I can't leave you alone until you wake up, Gibss," she informed him softly. He should know that. She couldn't just give up on him.
