Its still Christmas Break, right?
Riku was still half asleep when he dragged himself downstairs in the morning, yawning, and his hair messed from sleeping. He'd left Sora in bed to sleep in while he took the dogs out quickly. He well intended to crawl right back into bed with him and sleep for awhile more.
He'd also intended to change out of Sora's shirt before he really came out of his room to greet the day.
And there was his mother, just sitting at the kitchen table when he came back inside with the dogs. "Uh," Riku grunted, not awake enough to hold a normal conversation.
"You're up early," his mother noted, and Riku gestured to the dogs. They'd woken him up or he'd still be asleep. He only half noticed her glance at his choice of clothing this morning... Sora's t-shirt and a pair of boxers, while he grabbed the carton of chocolate milk from the fridge. She didn't want to know how he ended up wearing it.
The dogs seemed very interested in the fridge and Riku's milk and he gave them a little shove. "Go say hi to Sora," he told them, pointing towards the door. "Go say hi."
"Is he still in your room?" Riku's mother asked, not exactly innocently. Riku was nodding before he realized that he was... then he paused, considered what to say, and gave her a flat and serious, 'Yes.'
"Riku," she began, but he cut her off.
"Mother, please. I know you two don't get along really well, but he means a lot to me. And he thinks you hate him, so can you please be a little nicer? He'd going through a lot right now, and its Christmas."
