“Are you sure?” Clarke nodded at her friend and fellow medic. She needed to know. She knew the risks of interacting with your amber, knew the potential side effects, but her worry about Madi, in particular, lately had been taking a toll, especially after losing so many lately - Raven, Echo, Harper. Harper hit the hardest, knowing what she knew, but she missed all of them. She missed her mother, too, but it was Madi she missed most of all. Getting grounded had almost been a wake up call to how it was affecting her, the not knowing, or maybe it was just the absence of Bellamy telling her this was a bad idea. Whatever it was, Clarke was determined to take the risk. It would be worth it to see Madi again, even if it was only in her mind.
Clarke had spent enough time in medical to know how this worked. As she reached forward, she tried to brace herself, but it was like trying to brace yourself from a tidal wave or a tornado - there was no standing your ground in the face of such a force. As it happened, Clarke didn’t remember any of it anyway.
[hours later]
Blinking, Clarke looked around what was obviously a medical facility, but it wasn’t otherwise familiar to her. The bed was similar enough to the table she’d just been lying helpless on to make her recoil at the sight, only to be immediately surprised that she could move. “What...” A face swam into her field of vision, one Clarke did recognize vaguely, at least. “Caitlin...” The name came to her lips easily as her mind worked to integrate memories from home with a place called Atlantis where she’d also spent several months, almost a year. She was surprised to find she didn’t feel any soreness from her last mission there, too, despite remembering clearly that she’d been there. It felt to Clarke as if she’d both just been in Atlantis and just been lying helpless on a table after being injected with a paralytic at the same time. No wonder her head hurt.
Her attempts to sit up brought a soft protesting meow from the end of the bed, near her feet, “Symba!” Clarke exclaimed, picking up the small furball before turning her attention back to Caitlin with a look that demanded an explanation. She got one and it wasn’t one she would have been likely to believe if she hadn’t lived several months in Atlantis and watched people come and go. This was a new world she was in now, one she’d been in for months, almost a year, but one she suddenly didn’t remember. A side effect of the amber, whatever the hell that meant. Defining the substance was the least of her concerns as Caitlin gave her a brief synopsis of the world she’d found herself in. Another damn war. Just once, it would be nice if the multiverse would send her somewhere peaceful. She was starting to believe that peace didn’t exist, especially after being shoved right into the darker side of Sanctum.
“I’m okay. I’d just like to go sleep in a real bed,” she insisted after asking a few questions of Caitlin. The doctor had nodded and given her directions back to the complex where she would find her apartment waiting. It probably said something about how crazy this whole experience had been that she didn’t notice it was too large a space for one person or that there were signs of Lexa all over this space. Without taking note of any of that, she settled onto the couch with Symba curled up next to her and closed her eyes to sleep off the damn headache. And maybe just a little to hide from how bizarre this all was.
[OOC: today, Clarke decided to interact with her amber, but there was an unusual side effect and while she got some additional memories, she also lost all of her game memories from Revolt and now doesn't remember having been here before. She remembers SA up to right after the Supernatural Mission and remembers home up to episode 6x3? FUN TIMES.]
