When I heard this game was coming out, me and my sister bugged my mom for it for christmas, and got it earlier. We were excited about it, but our excitement died down after we started to play it for awhile. It took us a long time to beat it, and we weren't happy with the result.
The good: It's got the graphics like all Shin Megami Tensei games, and you get to summon demons, use weaknesses against monsters and level up pretty easily. Once you capture a demon, you can go to a guy named Victor that catalogs it and lets you buy it again. It's got history and realistic settings and nice music. The side quests are fun and interesting and investigating is fun. The NPCs are fun to talk to and the storyline is pretty good. Once you get the hang of it, it's really easy to fight and investigate with your demons.
The bad: Many think no voice acting is bad, but this company isn't rich, and besides they don't do it often. It's a hack and slash game in all basics, and to beat it, you need a demon that revives itself and doesn't take damage to fire power which is hard to contain. You only get to keep a certain amount of demons at one time, and the higher the level the more it costs to get it, and fighting high level demons is the only way to get alot of money. It's very annoying. The ending isn't very satisfying for all the work you do. Bosses are extremely hard, and sometimes boards are big puzzles where you get ambushed all the time and can't exit. You cannot controll the camera when in fights, so your combos are useless sometimes. Your monsters can die easily if they get caught and you don't have them follow you every two seconds.
Overall: It's more of a renting game if you can find it, but if you want to expand your SMT collection, go get it! It's very fun still and has alot of funny and cool parts. It's easy to overlook alot of flaws about it, simply because it's fun. I love it, even if it does make me want to throw things, but that's it. It depends on what you like for this game.
