Repose

[It comes in a cardboard box, one of the large ones in which a bunch of Girlscout cookie boxes fit. It still smells ever so faintly of chocolate and coconut.

Inside the box, in a bed of crumpled newspaper, is a promised puzzle box. This one is steel forged in hellfire--it has a kind of zing she'll recognize, and it's sort of blue-ish, the way Janus' eyes get sometimes these days. It is three boxes in one, and each rectangular piece turns on a hinge, creating something like a book. Each individual box has a puzzle in it that unlocks a key to the next "page."

The puzzles include a miniature flattened version of a Burr puzzle, a vaguely planetary one and various interlocking pieces that eventually assemble to make a final key to the final box. (Assuming she gets that far...)]

Hi, ya'll. I'm just commenting to tell folks that Daniel's off working on being able to go out and get round better. He's safe and there ain't a thing wrong with him. You can write him letters, and he'll receive them. He'd like hearing from folks, and hopefully he'll be back real soon and better off for it. This is the first time I've been away from Boston for St. Patricks' Day. I haven't even looked for a Catholic church to attend Mass! My mom is going to disown me! Guess I'll make do with trying my hand at my mom's shepherd's pie recipe. Think I'll skip the corn beef and cabbage because ew. I might even get some green food color to put in my beer. Think that will get me out of trouble for not finding a Mass to attend?

Today is world book day.

I'm currently reading my first Stephen King book ever. Bag of Bones. And I highly recommend it, although I think everyone else has been on this bandwagon way, way before me.

So if anyone wants to gather in a little bookish circle and recommend things to each other, do come hither.

They're building jails to lock people away who can do things. Are you scared of getting caught?

[Mainchance, the crisis center, opens without fanfare. There are flyers placed here and there around town to announce that there is somewhere to go if people need help for whatever reason they may have. There are phone numbers for anonymous texting/calling, and forum contact for anonymous posting so anyone can reach out for any issue they need to discuss. Mainchance offers minor first aid treatment, assistance in seeking legal help, beds for those that have nowhere to sleep, food for those that are hungry. There are self-defense classes offered, counseling for those in need, and all of it is done for free. As this is Repose, there is an unsaid understanding that this particular crisis center is able to deal with the weirdness of the town better than FEMA, but matters of the supernatural are not able to be advertised quite so openly.]
