Will squatted down to sit on the edge of the small cooler he'd brought. The coals were, as promised, smoldering and just about ready for the food to go on. The beer he'd brought—because what was grilling without it?—was cold. The kabobs were all set and plated. His outfit was simple jeans and a T-shirt, and really the guy didn't think he could look or feel any more at home than he did right now.
It really was a strange thing to think, given what his life had been as of late, but Will chose to take it as a sign things were on the upswing. He liked his new job, he was getting some answers about why his life had suddenly gone so insane. He'd enjoyed the people he'd met here beside, but the town itself was the real charmer. It had its own special kind of magic and he'd thoroughly enjoyed the postcard interaction he'd had. It was how he'd come to be here in the park, sitting, smiling, and awaiting the arrival of his correspondence partner with a friendly smile.
Whatever today brought, at least he knew there'd be good food and if it all went sideways, well, there'd be plenty of leftovers.
