Re: log: cat, matt, emily
[Cat's inquiry about fireplaces earned a turn of Em's head, looking right at the other woman with a raised eyebrow.] Because fire's been such a good friend to me lately? [Tone so dry, she gave a little shake of her head, eventually joined by another subtle smile, especially when she was placed in the same category as the felines that Cat liked so much. And at the mention of a long way back, she nodded her head and gave that same sound from earlier - the one that sounded like affirmation. Like she already knew.
Maybe she did.
She smiled at Matt then, soft and a little sweet.] I wouldn't think to insinuate otherwise. [Of course he was a good vet. Now that she was awake and looking, she could tell in the set of his shoulders and the haunted warmth of his eyes. It made her not at all reluctant to put her hand in his, palm up, fingers still curled slightly to cup her hand in the most relaxed position it could find. The bandages were warm along the back of her hand, the side of her wrist, but her fingers were icy pale. She reached over with her other hand and worked at lifting away the tape that was holding the gauzy bandage together, wrapped around her wrist and palm in a careful figure-8. With those pieces lifted, it began to fall and untwist on its own.
