Re: log: cat, matt, emily
[Matt didn't know if he liked her sharp, long look. It sent crawling down his spine when someone looked at him like that. He hadn't stopped being paranoid, not even after six months of living in this town, and he hadn't forgotten the risks he might be running in meeting someone knew.
But then she looked to her friend. A little of that edginess subsided, then - though not by much.
The house did look bad, but that wasn't so much of a surprise based on the state of its only occupant. Doctor first, and he glanced at Cat, managing a small, private smile.] Medic. [A quiet correction. It was as high a rank as he felt like he could be awarded, and he sure as hell wasn't a doctor, but he could make do for people in a pinch. Emily wasn't the first human being he'd treated in between the dogs and cats.
He removed his coat. Something hot to drink would be good for her - she was obviously freezing.] She could use some warmer clothes. [A detached observation, and a tacit suggestion. If Cat had some she could drop by, it might not be a bad idea.
He tipped his head toward the kitchen chairs as Cat asked for something to make tea or coffee with. He needed her to sit.] I'd like to take a look at your hand. [Banal, calm.]
