Mary wondered if she'd always be surprised by his tenderness. It reflected all the care she could sense in him, but to feel it in the way he held her hand or the shy compliments he gave her felt completely new. "You don't look half bad yourself. Love the shirt." She leaned in to kiss his cheek and then slipped past him out the door.
She smiled at him, closing the door and locking it with the jingle of keys. Mary tucked them away in her clutch and then held her hand back out for him to take. "So, my bear safety presentation went great, in case you were wondering." Mary tilted her chin up proudly. Yes, she worked too much, but she obviously got a lot out of what she did. "You were a hundred percent right. My rangers can handle it from here. I showed them enough pictures of bears snarling that they know they are cute and dangerous."
