Mary had been on dates before. Everything from swipe right to chatting up a frequent hiker. It was never serious at least not to her because they never really knew her. They didn't know she was a princess in hiking boots, a failed warrior in braids. She never told anyone about her true life until Repose and so there was no such thing as getting serious with anyone.
Dylan, as stormy as he was, seemed interested in trying something with her. He seemed serious, well more serious than usual and him officially asking her out made her wonder if this was more than chilling before his stormy days came rolling in. What was going to happen when they did? She wanted to go hiding in the forest until the skies were blue, but Snow White always came back to fight for things she wanted. And, damn well she really wanted Dylan. Didn't that suck?
She decided on blue, with her hair pulled up and tight like always. It was definitely going to be a little more sporty-glam than what Dylan was wearing (she guessed sneakers), but Mary kind of wanted to wow him a little bit. Throwing guys off their game was always fun. She opened the door and Molly came out first to greet Dylan. Incredibly well behaved and loving like she wasn't the most hyper, poorly trained girl at the pound.
"Hi, handsome." Mary said from behind the door, holding onto the wall as she pulled her heel on. Once steadied, she reached to pet Molly. "Bedtime, baby." She whispered to the dog, who licked Dylan's hand before trotting back over to her large, warm bed. Mary smiled and reached out for Dylan, sensing he was tense, but not really sure why.
