Nish shook Julia's hand and then took another sip of her whiskey. "Well, I can't say anything about a trailer. At least it's yours," she said with a shrug. "I mean...I just left everything behind and took off a few months ago. I'm supposed to be going home to my brother in Oregon, but I'm starting to think I'll never get there," she admitted without even paying attention to what she was saying. But then, when she was drunk, attention wasn't something she had a lot of.
She chuckled and kept her stream of consciousness going, "I mean...I was only supposed to be here a week, right? At the motel. Now I'm at the B&B and just like he said, I've 'picked up a stray', and now I don't want to leave her behind, so I'm stuck making excuses to myself as to why I have to keep staying here, but it's really for her..." She left the 'he' ambiguous...she could assume it was her brother, but she was really referring to Loki, the trickster god living in her head. She couldn't hear him when she was drunk though, so he had nothing to say about this slip-up.
