Re: Outside Music Store: Mathias & Claire
Claire's time in the gulf area was spent under a different name, and she was often elbow deep in blood. There were people that the Church had sent her after, faces that held no meaning to her anymore, individuals that were a threat to the Vatican's influence, or creatures that were born of darkness itself. It mattered little in those flashes of knives, or spin of her spear, when she was sprayed head to toe in showers of sanguine crimson. It was her purpose. Her bloodline. Those days she was the pale rider, and her horsemen? Her spear, her armor, and her faith.
She blinked a few times at his question, and rattled off her answer quickly, decidedly honest in her reply, "I traveled a lot when I was younger. I was in Bahrain for a bit when I was twelve? Thirteen? Something like that. Those years blur together. I don't remember it being too hot. It must have been during Winter." Her voice turned wistful towards the end, speaking more to herself than to him. As though it were some pleasant little detail that she had forgotten about her time there.
Her already bright smile grew wider when he laughed and she subconsciously nodded in appreciation when he used her name. Not that it was her real name, but it had been her name for the past year and it was starting to grow on her. Claire motioned for them to go to the end of the street, a lazy slouch to her shoulders as they walked, "There is your problem. Everything is interesting when you look at it right." They hit the intersection of Main Street, and she paused there on the corner, "Do you like carnivals? I admit that I've never been to this one. I mean, I've been there, but I haven't gone to the carnival. It's way down Central. Which is that way through most of town," she pointed off to the right, her hand covered in worn black knit gloves, "But the ice cream shoppe, if you are curious, is a block that way," and she jerked her thumb to the left with a wicked grin. "Seriously. Eyes closed. Anyway, the carnival is small hike, but if you have the time, we can head down that way."
