Post Party: Crisp & Sick of Time
Who: crisp & sick of time
What: Waking up.
Where: Shoreline of the lake.
When: Morning after the party
Warnings/Rating: Not yet? Will update if/when needed.
The air was cool and everthing was just a little damp-feeling as the sun rose high enough to pierce through the trees around the lake and find her face. The beam started near her chin and inched its way up toward her eyes, pulling her back to consciousness with the way everything was glowing scarlet behind her eyelids. An annoyed sound caught itself in teh back of her throat as she faught to stay in slumber, but there was no way to ignore that piercing sunrise.
Keeping her eyes closed, she took stock of everything around her: the grass beneath her, the sound of the lake, the puffy fleece of her oversized pumpkin costume. The warm body at her back with an arm curled over her side, the same way they'd fallen asleep when she'd moved close to him the night before. The hand, broad and large, that rested on her stomach even through the pillowy costume. The other arm that extended out, offering her a pillow where she could rest her head on thick bicep. The knees that snugged up close behind hers, angle for angle. And through the the scent of grass and lake and dirt, a bit of the familiar. Also familiar was the breath against the back of her neck, where her hair was braided back in a single plait. A pumpkin with a braid - not quite the autumnal goddess of the night before.
Even though the sun was too bright to allow her to slip back into slumber, she stayed right where she was and sighed. Content. She knew they'd have to get up eventually, but for the moment she was satisfied to simply lay there. At least she was until something twinged in her lower back, this discomfort causing her to suck in a breath. It wasn't unexpected though - aches in general were common, and they had spent the night sleeping outside on the ground. She tried to shift subtly, trying to not wake her companion, but hoping that the ache would ease. And it did eventually, but not as quickly as she would've liked.
