Who: an offering What: Reveal! When: Disembarking the train Warnings/Rating: None in particular
The girl that disembarked the train hadn't really noticed when the lights came up. She heard it, of course, the murmuring of those in the vicinity, the exclamations that came when shadows danced and light made its way back to them all. But she didn't notice, the darkness a friend that she had grown quite used to in the past months. No light came back to her, nor did she expect such a miracle.
But that didn't put a damper on her mood from the evening. Even though she had attempted to chase the demons away with drink stronger than any she had imbibed in the past, the unexpected bit of company had made that something she didn't want to pursue any longer. Had she actually made a friend? Someone who didn't have the shadows of the past coloring their opinion of her? Was there actually a glimmer of hope to pull her from her self-imposed solitude at the carnival?
There might have been the slightest bounce in her step as she carefully made her way down the steps. Her dress was wrinkled from where she had been sitting, resting in one of the sleeping compartments, her hair mussed from lack of attention. But there was a brightness in her face, even in those unseeing eyes, as she made her way out of the train and to the station, cold air biting at her face and making her wish she had worn something thicker.
Unlike the parties of the past, this one had ended on a positive note for Meredith, and she just hoped that whomever she had talked with, whomever had been so kind to her for those handful of hours, would answer when she reached out to him.
