[UFO Tourism: Connie & Dahlia]
Connie wasn't the type of girl who "needed to get out" of town to recenter her zen. The town was always her zen and anywhere outside of it was a big scary unknown. But, over the past few years, all the scary unknowns were moving into town. People from all over the world with all kinds of experiences and lives moving into her little town and changing it. Repose had been different and Connie couldn't cling to it like a blue safety blanket anymore.
Especially now that she felt on the outside with her own family, not one of them knowing how to talk to her because not a single one understood what or who she was. That awful conversation with Adrian's other half sometimes reared its ugly head in her mind. A terrible monster that didn't believe for one second that she was worse.
No one believed she could be worse. It made her angry and full of Gunster motivation to show them that they were wrong. And that is why she wanted to leave town. If she stayed, someone was going to have a bad time. Connie wasn't ready to push away more people she cared about like that.
So, she ran instead. She took the first chance out of town and hit the ground running. It was even better with Dahl being the one whisking her away because she felt most comfortable with her rough and tumble best friend. Dahl may not have understood everything about Connie and her spookiness, but she was trying really hard to and that was all Connie needed.
Connie looked up at the mural in question with awe in her big blue eyes. She wrapped her arm around Dahl's waist and proclaimed: "It's perfect!" That alien? It understood Connie. She felt a close connection with it. Her other arm reached to pull Dahl into a side hug and then she leaned back to look up at her.
The conversation turned to her brother Pat and Connie's mouth gave a flip-flop frown. "He's just sorry he sided with someone that wasn't me." She shooed away the idea, like Pat worried too much. "And, no alien is dumb enough to abduct us. We'd kick their little alien butts."
