Re: May's Cottage: May & Rory
[It was likely only the respectful distance that had formed between the two of them that kept May from declaring an end-date to Rory's residency. She knew enough about the stars and planets to compare the celestial movements to those of her and Rory - near and crossing at times, but still firmly in their own paths and orbits. It was an easy, natural sort of dance, and this was apparently one of the times they'd cross.
...Or maybe she'd just begun to grow a little lonely. The previous year had tossed her around and bruised her a bit, and having someone else's footsteps hit the floors was its own sort of comfort. Not that it was something she'd admit to anyone. Even herself, unless it was in the very dark of nighttime thoughts. Either way, while she wasn't particularly warm, neither was she insisting that Rory leave. For the moment, they simply... were.
May (almost politely) ignored the obvious physical signs of tension that plagued Rory after she spoke, and at his request for tea, she shifted her eyes over to one of the open shelves that held additional (slightly lumpy) mugs, placed there upside-down to keep anything from settling into the bottoms. Expecting him to fetch his own mug, she lifted the cozy off of the teapot sitting near her. She felt the side of it with the back of her hand, judging the temperature to be acceptable for the moment, and then lifted it to weigh how much tea was left inside. He'd finish it off, but she could make another pot. She gestured with her free hand, calling silently for something to pour into.
The talk of saving trees brought to mind the thought of people chaining themselves around redwoods, climbing up into the branches to settle there in hopes that development companies would set aside their chainsaws and bulldozers. It made her smile, mostly internal but with a glint in her eyes and a slight movement of her lips.] The trees around here don't need me to save them. [His accent reminded her of Jeze, and she knew she'd need to contact the girl soon. With the return of spring, she didn't have to worry so much about questions regarding her appearance and age.]
