log: eddie/damian edwards island
Who: Eddie, Damian
Where: Edwards Island
What: looking for a dead body
When: recently
Warnings: spooky shit
It was a few hours after nightfall and Eddie had locked up the arcade early with an excuse that there was something going on at one of his other shops. Despite the urge, he did not contact Stephanie first or even drop a line to Cat. He knew how to respect secrecy when the time came for it and if he were to die on that rock in the middle of the lake with two of Bruce's sons, well, at least that was not high on his list of most probable deaths. Eddie liked to be unpredictable, after all. When he drove up to the lake, he found it deserted. It wasn't early enough in the year for necking teenagers and the security was so lax in Repose he didn't have to worry about paying off any rangers to let him pass. The ground was muddy after a recent rain and green was starting to pop up around the lake. It was still chilly though, the kind of chilly that felt wet and sticky in a way that made him wish for either snow or summer. No in between, please. He stepped out to the dock, checked his watch and glanced out towards the ominous island.
Eddie wasn't completely sure what he was doing there. He could hear Stephanie's voice in the back of his head asking him if he really thought this was a good idea and he had no answer for the blonde shadow. There was no denying that Damian wasn't a fan of Eddie, the criminal aspect of his earlier life and subsequent divorce of Stephanie proved to be problematic for the young man. Oh, Eddie couldn't blame him. He couldn't bring himself to hate Damian, either, since there was so much of his personality that reminded him of Bruce. And, it wasn't just all the brooding qualities that made them both good vigilantes. It was the concern they tried to hide under it. The care that Cat was sure had been snuffed out in Bruce's heart. So, maybe that was part of it. That, and Eddie's own affection for Jason. He was part rogue, after all, and rogues had to look out for each other.
So, he was there, waiting for Damian in the mists that crept out of the lake. Eddie brought a few of his own supplies in a messenger bag at his side, along with hand radios for the both of them. Damian didn't seem like the type that would own a hand radio, much less know where to find one. Kids, these days. He didn't bother looking around here and there for the young man, assuming the boy would sneak up on him and make himself known when he felt like it.
