destiny& bro at eddie's carnival
Who:Destiny, Eddie, little Wyatt.
What: A daytime Carnival visit.
Where: Eddie's
When: Currentish?
Warnings: None!
Destiny wasn't exactly nine-to-five, and she would have liked to of thought that gave her a rather open schedule… but life at the caravans was stressful. She'd never wanted to be in charge, she'd never even particularly wanted to be there, but cards kept being tossed down and her hand couldn't hold them. She wasn't gonna complain about it, life was to be celebrated and not mourned. That felt backwards as hell, besides… she had her brothers. Thats all she wanted, was family. That was the whole reason they did this kind of work in the first place, and Destiny was still holding onto the dream that enough money to her mother's lawyer would get the woman out soon. Destiny didn't have much of a choice aside from believing that. If all these girls looking up to her, and all of this pain in so many pasts, if it was for nothing, Destiny just couldn't think about that. Not when she had little Wyatt to raise. Because maybe the caravans weren't the best environment for him, she wasn't going to argue that, but she didn't know what else to do. She had to take care of mama, and Billy, and Wyatt, and now all the girls too, and even Dahlia she thought needed looking after and taking care of, so what was she supposed to do?
She missed Wren, because Wren had left her with a whole new anchor, and it was a little terrifying. It made her feel a lot guilty.
But today wasn't for any of that stuff. Today, she was taking Wyatt to the carnival. It was the afternoon, well before dark, because she knew that Eddie, the owner, was doing her a favor, and they weren't yet open for business hours. Destiny didn't expect Wyatt to ride any tilt-a-whirl or get cotton candy, nothing like that, but maybe he could see the animals. He liked animals a lot, as evidenced by the growing menagerie at their home.
Wyatt had wanted to bring Hamlet along with them, but Destiny hadn't been sure if there were lions or tigers or whatnot, and how they would feel about that. So she said maybe next time, and Destiny walked into the quiet carnival grounds with Wyatt on her hip. He wore blue shirt and shorts, but Destiny was bland in a nude tank top and denim shorts. She had flip flops for shoes, Wyatt didn't have any(there were a pair of little green sandals in the backpack purse strung across Destiny's shoulderblades).
