Re: quicklog: archie/cat break ins
[She said something about the right hands and it made him frown like he would be clutching his pearls if he had any. He was sure that this woman was a friend of Nero's because he tended to attract bold people. This woman was clearly very bold.] They deny it, or live with it. Have you ever been around a terrible smell? Fish market or a dead body? I guess fish markets are full of dead bodies, technically, but humans have a way of ranking what sort of dead things-
[He caught himself from going on a tangent:] humans adapt to even the worst conditions. Brain damage included. They teach themselves to pretend the damage isn't there. For example, I'm talking to a woman dressed like a cat. This was strange, but I am slowly getting use to it. [He tilted his head to the side, thinking about a couple other strange things he had gotten used to.
She was messing up his papers and he pointed to them, as if she had no idea, before ultimately not saying anything. Another sigh and he tapped his fingers on the box he was clutching.] I have some jarred monkey heads that I don't need anymore if you'd like to steal those. [He said dryly, although honestly it was likely the most valuable thing in his lab besides the red energy. Ultimately, though, he was getting a little tired of her playing around. He understood that it was how cats behaved and she'd try to banter with him all day until he gave her what she needed. Archibald craved a more direct approach and so:]
I think this is a tell me yours I'll show you mine sort of scenario. [He said boldly, voice quaking up and down the sentence and he coughed nervously into his fist.] Why won't you tell me what you want to know?
