Repose

[It's sad, but almost to be expected. The weekend after the Fourth of July comes in hot, and families—especially those with children to entertain in the summer months—head to the lake to cool off. There's a floating dock not too far out in the water that people like to race to and from, and it's during the raucous one of these races that people speculate the woman went missing. Mid-40s, a wife and a mother to two teenage sons and a young daughter. She'd been a strong swimmer, by all accounts, but it just goes to show the dangers of swimming without proper equipment.

Presumed drowned after 24 hours, the woman's body doesn't surface with any immediacy. The lake is combed, as much as it can be, but full of debris and wrecks, it isn't too surprising that the police come up with nothing. The funeral will be held Monday at the Protestant church.]
