Re: Woods: Holly and Rafe
Holly was direct and blunt, but he didn't go around telling people he was from another timeline, universe... whatever? So, yeah, he got it. But he liked to share his honest opinion, without softening or the equivalent of an LMAO at the end of a sentence, you know, to make things go over better. Maybe that was some selfish shit, but it was who he was; he didn't think being kind was always, you know, kind. Telling people things how they actually were? Was always better, in his opinion. And he didn't know about this guy here... Rafe? He didn't know what kinda guy Rafe was yet, but he didn't see that tell-tale sign of a people-pleaser, at least not yet. But it was early moments yet, and it was dark out, so, yeah, it was all to be determined.
And Holly was young, but he'd picked up some stuff from his few years with the military, things beyond the limp: He stood tall, didn't slouch, even relaxed, and he just approached things with this confident demeanor. Like this guy and this tree, and the woods that should fucking terrify him. But his awareness was improved, and he could tell the air was thin over there, and not right here, where they were standing, so as long as they didn't head over to that neighboring tree? Holly was chill.
He didn't rush this guy, you know, during that examination and thumb-smear of the dirt at the base of the tree. "Yeah, I heard," he said of the bedroom. "I heard it was a mess, though, so maybe there was a struggle or something?" he asked, but he didn't believe that shit; Audrey wasn't taken by some robber or trafficker. So, right, he nodded toward the tree. "So, you're saying it's like...?" Like what? "I'll tell you what I know. She walked out into the road like nothing. She was filthy, and she didn't know who I was; Audrey knows me. She doesn't like me, but she knows me. She's close with my husband. But it was more than her not knowing me. It was, like..., IDK. When I was in the military, I saw some people come back from things messed up. It was like that. Oh, and the smell. It wasn't like dead people, exactly, but it kinda maybe was? Less sweet? IDK, but it wasn't a scent from around here. Not that I know all the scents from around here, but it was the kinda thing you wouldn't forget. And... um, I've been around some of here's weirder places."
