Re: [Road: Holly NW and Audrey C]
He had every right to be stressed, who wouldn't? Finding a missing woman banged up, dirty and bruised, and the fact that said woman wasn't very much liked by said finder probably didn't help at all. A big, giant red flag for someone who was trying to lay low, it would probably have been better for Holly if he had just driven off, honestly. Right minded Audrey wouldn't have even blamed him.
"..." her mouth opened, and a small noises left it; the sound was dry, as if she hadn't spoken in years, though she'd only be gone what a week? Or it could be akin to the loss of a voice from screaming, that helpless hoarseness.
Things began to click in her head. Hospitals. Where was she? What happened? Who? Dead? Bailing? So many questions at once and her dark, bloodshot eyes filled with fat tears that spilled over not so gracefully leaving clean streaks over a dirt caked face, and her chest began to move quickly, gasping for air. Oh great, this was wonderful.
She shook her head. "Don't know. Don't know, don't know--" Tiny hands were fists in her lap. "No hospital--I---" She swallowed, hard. "I don't remember, I don't remember anything." She hiccuped and clenched her eyes shut in an attempt to keep the tears from coming, but damn if they flowed ever faster.
