Re: [Road: Holly NW and Audrey C]
Well, unfortunately, Holly would not be receiving an answer. Not for a while at least.
She didn't know how much worry she caused Noah, Hugh, Casey or anyone. In fact, names weren't even registering in her mind right now. Nothing was. Everything he said was in a tunnel. She felt like she was underground. Was she still underground? Suffocating in the mud. No breath. She needed air and silently she took a large gulp of it.
She was in the middle of a road. Okay. And someone? Someone. Was here. Talking. She may not hear the buzzing but she felt the thickness like earth caving in around them and she held her breath again. He was talking again, his voice coming in and out like a bad radio station. Something about the Jeep? A hospital. Yes, a hospital. She hurt. She knew she hurt, at least she was supposed to hurt.
For a moment Audrey stood. Hesitating like some dumb, stupefied animal literally caught in the head lights. Her eyes looked to Holly, to the car and finally she moved forward, limping slightly as she made her way to the passenger side. She tugged open the silver door--and it was so tall, she scrambled to get in and slam the door. Still silent. Still holding her breath. Still.
Audrey inhaled deeply, quietly, her trembling blood and dirt stained hands in her lap. Hair matted by--what the hell was it? Tar? Dirt? It was hard to tell, but it was thick and sticky-- hid her face where eyes stared unseeing at the floor of the Jeep, which would now smell like soil, ink and copper. Sorry guys, you'd definitely need some air fresheners in here after this.
She wanted to ask where she was. Who he was. But she was supposed to know, right? Where had she been?
