Re: [Woods: Atticus & Eames]
Knew he couldn't get arrested for tattoos that were visible past his collar and sleeve hems. Wasn't worried about that. Didn't go around telling people about the ghosts. Told like-minded people. Told people who weren't innocent of their own transgressions against a state which had no means to control people with abilities. Governments always feared threats. Was nothing exclusive to 2020. Had happened in 1999, too. Knew Eames wasn't mundane. Wasn't the runes that told him. Wasn't even the forums, though reading back over those certainly hadn't hurt. Was just something about the man. Maybe it was how easily he talked about Janus. Atticus wasn't sure, but accepted it. Was good at just accepting.
Chuckled. Pushed away from the counter. "Think we can agree that jealousy is part of the human condition. Maybe it's about emotional survival. Could be a protective mechanism. Evolutionary jealousy. There's a thought." Was casual when he discussed the subject; wasn't jealous himself. Had felt twinges of something possessive, but knew better than to label that jealousy. Was just something that every human child experienced at some point or another when someone took their favorite toy. Nothing more. Nothing less. Had strong feelings about love as a literary and social construct. Thought happiness with another person was about more than sentiment.
"Have learned that there are talkative men in the woods with good beer," he said, leading into a closure. "Better get back. But thanks for the beer and the conversation. Don't be a stranger. Know it's exciting out here alone and everything, but good conversation is something that can't be beat," he advised. Believed it. For all that he was lazy and reactive, Atticus was very social. Liked discourse. Had enjoyed this chat. Had even found parts of it illuminating.
