Re: [Woods: Atticus & Eames]
"Can't decide if someone is a thinker within a few minutes. Would be foolhardy of me. There are a lot of ways to think, and suspect it takes a collection of conversations to make that decision. If it can be made at all," Atticus said. Was comfortable with the rough amusement in the man's voice. Was comfortable with the man. Truth was that Atticus, lazy sod that he was, was generally comfortable around other people. Didn't take things personally. Took a long time to get worked up. Were the things that made him a good teacher for impossible high-school kids.
Took a sip of his beer. Leaned against the counter too, across from this man. Wasn't troubled by the admission that Janus was both lover and friend; his relationship with Janus was strange, but Atticus knew Janus wasn't interested in that way, not in him. "Which Janus?" he asked idly, curious but in that lazy way. Hadn't exactly figured Janus out yet. Wasn't actively trying to decipher what the changing genders meant, exactly. Was sexist enough to notice that the female made coffee, insisted on cleaning his space, and that the male didn't. Was about as far as he'd come. Laziness meant Atticus wasn't in a rush to get to answers. Not about Janus. Not about Lear. Not about this man. Not about Repose, in general.
Chuckled. "What am I? Am just a person. Sorry to disappoint. Spent some time on the island in the lake, the one they say makes people relive things. Here I am, reliving things. Don't have any of the old man's memories, before you ask. Only know you from seeing your name when reading back on the forums." Let the topic of books go for now. Was a favorite, but wasn't so obsessed that it was the only thing in his repertoire. Took another sip of the beer instead.
