Re: Kit & Tory: Area 52
Tory returned the smile, almost with a bit of uncharacteristic shyness to it. "Right, avoidance. I might have some experience in that area. Also deflecting; like look - the coffee's done!" The smile shifted into a more regular grin as he waited for Kit to help himself first.
"I guess I'm more interested than most people in most things," Tory admitted, noticing the avoidance of specifically disclosing any of the procedures, before launching into an explanation of the book. "It's this book, written in the 70s, about this man who's generally pretty normally and mild-mannered, except he has these seizures where he blacks out and gets violent. So doctors implant these electrodes in his brain that stimulate the pleasure centers when one starts up, and kind of cut off the seizures." He raised a hand. "Sounds great, sign me up, right? Only he kind of predictably gets addicted to that pleasure stimulation so he figures out how to trigger it more and more often until they aren't working to their intended purpose; you know, stopping the blackouts. So then he has one and goes on a murderous rampage in the hospital, and I think he eventually gets killed in self-defense. Cheerful, hunh?"
