"Avoidance," Kit said, lightly. He knew he was inscrutable. It was a flaw, but it was also, as indeed, avoidance was, a self-protection mechanism. Nobody could grasp much of what made Kit, Kit. He didn't like being psychoanalyzed and he didn't do it often, if at all. Kit's particular comfort was with the physical damage done to people's heads, rather than the emotional. "It's common enough." He smiled. It was kind, these things were perfectly understandable.
"You're far more interested than most," Kit observed, without really saying anything. But NDAs worked that way. "I've not read it, tell me about it?" He asked the question out of interest, his hand reaching for a coffee mug as the brewed, strong smell filled the small space.
