Dietre A./Hugh C.: On the patio
It was nearly midnight when Hugh made his way to the kitchen to take care of any of the remaining drink and food things, things were left out for any remaining guests, self-serve if they wanted it, while his friend prepared to head back to the Capital. Hugh stole a remaining piece of pizza and poured himself an old fashioned, and then on a whim, poured a second one. Just in case.
It had been a while since he'd seen Dietre, but he thought he'd seen him earlier on the patio and while it might have turned cool enough that he could have moved to another location, Hugh figured this was the obvious first place to check to see if the other man was still there. There was also the chance that he'd left. Hugh knew parties weren't really Dietre's thing, and although he'd checked in earlier, and offered some quick smiles throughout the evening, he knew he had been floating around from guest to guest. That didn't mean he hadn't wanted to see him though. He might not be entirely certain about the wisdom of the flirting the two had engaged in earlier in the week, but he did knowthat he hadn't been joking about Dietre sticking around after others had left. And maybe they weren't quite to that point, but they were to the point where Hugh could focus in on Dietre if he wanted to. And he wanted to.
When he pushed the door open to scan the patio his eyes brightened as he caught sight of Dietre. "You stayed," he exclaimed, warm and pleased at the fact that Dietre had, and he didn't even look too miserable about it so far as Hugh could tell. "I brought you a drink," he held one of the glasses out. "If you want, and if not" - he laughed - "I'll have two."
Hugh stepped up beside him, and with both hands currently full, he had to settle for leaning into drop a brush of a kiss on Dietre's cheek rather than the hug he might have normally gone for. "How has it been? I'm sorry I've been so busy, I feel like I've hardly seen you yet, but honestly I'm glad you came and I'm glad you've stayed long enough for me to actually talk to you."
