Re: LIVING ROOM (Near the fireplace): Hugh C./Rafe J.
Rafe actually couldn't remember the last party he had attended, and wherever, whenever, and whatever it had been it hadn't been anything like this one. It had probably been some sort of get-together with friends back before everything had changed, before his whole life had been turned more or less upside down and inside out. They had always been more Jenny's thing, parties, the sort of event she would get excited about. She would spend ages figuring out what she would wear and what gift to take and Rafe had always found that, like so many things about her, incredibly endearing. Now? That enthusiasm would drive him crazy, he was sure, if not him then certainly the wolf in him, and parties in general didn't really appeal. He had made an exception for Hugh's because the man had been good to talk to, friendly and open in a way that both Rafe and the wolf could appreciate, and it had felt rude to decline.
The statement that options were always good earned Hugh a nod of agreement. "Can't argue with that," he said after taking another sip of his drink. Rafe wasn't sure what he would do with himself if his own position didn't work out for whatever reason. He couldn't foresee that happening, thankfully, but it didn't hurt to consider it every now and again. How many lines of work were there that would keep a werewolf challenged and contented at the same time?
"They are, as it turns out." Rafe slipped his free hand back into his pocket. "And it hasn't blown up in my face yet, so I'm calling it a win." Not that he expected it to ever blow up in his face but when it came to werewolves there was no way of knowing. Something told him Aubrey would agree with him on that point.
