LIVING ROOM (Near the fireplace): Hugh C./Rafe J.
After spending the beginning moments of the party welcoming guests, Hugh did a quick check-in through the kitchen making certain nothing was needed there, and that people had drinks, before he returned back to the living room to do a quick survey of the room. Truthfully, it had been ages since he'd thrown a party that even was close to this, and if he were honest, he'd never probably exactly thrown a party like this. He'd thrown parties at university in cramped condos, or rented out spaces. He'd attended plenty of parties when he'd been in Seattle including ones in large loft spaces, rooftops, ritzy penthouses that overlooked the sound, but he'd never hosted one of those, because 400 square feet in a studio apartment, didn't really lend itself to anything more than an intimate gathering of two.
This house, especially maybe with just him living it, but even now that it had him and Zee, it was built for entertaining and he had known it when he walked in. There was nothing about the large great room that didn't scream 'throw a party'. The tall ceilings, the fireplace itself, the way you could group furniture into small groups for mingling and talking, it seemed right to have people in the house and more than just the small groups that he'd had over in the past. He'd like to do this more, even if he did have an edge of nerves about whether it'd turn out alright, and whether there would be enough food or drink, or the possibility of trouble.
For right now, he raised an old fashioned to his lips and took a sip. He'd had a tiny bit of bourbon prior to the party beginning, but this was the first actual drink of the party itself. And with it in his hand, his eyes fell on Rafe, who he hadn't really had a chance to talk to recently. He moved towards him, and as he approached flashed a warm grin to the other man. "I was going to start this conversation by saying I promised no Repose weirdness, but then I realized that was absolutely an invitation for Repose weirdness to happen, so I won't curse either of us that way," he laughed with an amused huff. "How have you been?"
