Re: Tory & Jamie: the Apartment
"Lions aren't similar enough to a housecat to be the same genus, but they are closely enough related to be in the same family," Tory instructed, even though he knew they were probably past that point. He laughed a little, feeling the warm buzz of alcohol in his stomach, knowing it wouldn't be too long until it hit his brain and made this a lot tougher to explain. "You're not a bad audience; you're asking good questions and I think you've got the basic point. I'm just pretty sure it's overexplaining a joke to the n-th degree," he added with a slightly sheepish smile.
The smile slipped from sheepish to shy. Jamie was attractive. Not entirely Tory's type in that way that dark-haired, heavy-browed, gray-eyed boys were, but he was cute, friendly, funny. So yes, there was a little bit of a blush again, because while Tory wasn't exactly delicate (see: admitted dildo usage), he wasn't used to anyone being quite so forward. And certainly not anyone who knew the fuckiest parts of his past. So, he said: "You did, and we are - the whole junkular region," indicated with a wave of his hand in the basic vicinity of his crotch, and didn't commit to anything further just yet. It was starting to sound like a good idea.
Dancer, right. It kind of explained the whole sinewy look. Tory hadn't known a lot of arty types, and of course he wondered about the "used to," because it seemed like the sort of thing you did, and could only do once you got into it. You didn't give up dancing to be an accountant. But Jamie had mentioned getting hit by a car, so Tory put two and two together and came up with that fucking sucked, if it was the truth of the matter. "But you danced, in Kansas?" His tone indicated that he wasn't sure that Kansas knew what dancing was, outside of making sure you left room for the Holy Spirit. "I mean, if you're from here, I would imagine that's less culture shock than Tokyo or Paris. What was the most interesting place you've ever been?" Tory hadn't done a lot of traveling. Colin had, once upon a time, but he'd never talked about it. And Colin had that exotic sort of draw: British father, British-Chinese mother, but born and raised in South Africa. Anyway, Tory liked hearing about traveling.
