Re: lakeside mansion; hugh c. & dietre a.
Dietre was not one to brag, though he was securely confident in his musical abilities. There was nothing smug in the way he answered Hugh. “I can. It may not be exactly the same… It can only be as close as my memory allows. But I think I could manage something quite similar.” Sometimes he took his talent for granted, unaware that people who could not play instruments didn’t have their brains wired the same as his might be.
“There is something about that piece that actually sounds familiar…” A cant to his head as he searched his audio memory banks. “It reminds me of a movement in The Carnival of Animals, by Camille Saint-Saëns. The name of it escapes me however…” It was hard to think when his ears wanted to focus on the music from the movie. His voice was hushed and distracted, “I’ll tell you if I remember.”
Hugh struck gold with this film, Dietre was caught up in it just about instantly. Maybe it helped that there was nothing lewd going on in it to make him uncomfortable. The music was very good, and the lyrics of the songs surprisingly clever. It did not seem all that childish to him despite being a cartoon.
Between Gaston and the Beast, Dietre’s lips quirked into a little smirk. “The men in this movie are awful too.”
