Hugh relaxed with Dietre's words, settling easily in against the other man, and letting his mind wander back to the film again, on some level consciously aware of the fact that this was nice. And maybe if he could trust himself to not mess things up completely, things could stay nice -- whatever that looked like in the end.
He was half tucked against Dietre's side by the time Dietre commented, and he sort of half glanced out of the side of his eyes towards Dietre, his gaze focusing back on the film. "Cause she was afraid of what he'd say, maybe? Or that they'd have to say who was. Or in a way maybe it sort of protects Penny if there's someone who is, even if that's outside of the morality her Dad's okay with. There's probably something to be said for that, within the contexts of that situation? I don't know though."
He shifted, but just to change position, not to pull away. "The whole situation's kinda bullshit. I remember thinking that every time I watched it before. But family is complicated?"
