Re: [Lakeside Manor: Hugh & Atticus]
"College involved a lot of pot brownies. Wasn't legal then. Felt like broken rules. Wasn't ever a big risk taker, but liked feeling mellow. Better than beer or cheap fruity wines." College had been a nearly purely academic experience for Atticus, but literary scholars did like to smoke some weed and discuss existentialism in literary theory, for example. "But am down for whatever brownies these are. Fudge. Cake. All good." Atticus appreciated food. Was lucky he had a decent metabolism, really. Since the runes, his energy was up. Felt stronger too. Just meant he could eat more brownies and still fit into his pants.
Glanced out toward the water. "Restless. Good word. Better recently?" he asked. Admittedly, hadn't given the lake much thought recently. Assumed Lear still spent time there, for obvious reasons, but assumed it had been more peaceful. Was a vain thought. Realized that, but accepted it; Atticus was fine with his own flaws. Was probably an extension of his laziness, the fact that he didn't really do anything to try to alter his poor behavior. "Spring is coming though. Can feel it on the air, even at night." Was true. The world was gearing up for warmth. Had never cared much for warm weather. Was more comfortable by a fireplace with the cold outdoors, but summer was coming, whether Atticus liked it or not. For him, the nights on the beach in the heat had been a product of feeling trapped. Was an air conditioning man, despite his love of boats and the water.
Chuckled at Hugh's reaction to the bookstore. "Something to do. Considered going back to teaching, but not in the mood to be trapped in a classroom all day." Also a result of being trapped on the island. "Am enjoying my freedom, and the bookstore is huge. Big undertaking. Like pointing at things and throwing my money around. At least for now. Considering racing cars after this. Will make sure to stock a good collection of theater books in the meantime."
Leaned against the counter again, having shifted to look out at the water. "Not overthinking. Sounds good. Always approve of not overthinking. How about the tumultuous love life?"
