Re: [Mean Eyed Cat: Atticus & Sue]
Were plenty more fish. Was true. Atticus wasn't fishing, but was a truthful statement that there were more fish. Atticus was looking for interaction, for conversation. Seemed overly simple, perhaps, but had spent a long time on that island. Had never believed himself the type of man who would get lonely, but had proven himself wrong on that count. Or, loneliness wasn't the right word. Wasn't that. But liked conversation. Had never had friends, but had always enjoyed conversation. Philosophical, theoretical, academic. Liked talking. Liked listening. Interaction. Romance wasn't on the table, but conversation was. "Don't think the fun side of Repose involves sleeping with the parents of children. Always take everything back to sex, huh?" asked casually. Was easy to be casual right now. Haunts were staying against the walls, not coming close enough to do anything to him. Was a heady feeling.
He quirked an expressive brow at Sue's literary choices. "Sounds like an interesting family," he said of brothers fucking boyfriends. "Want to talk about that?" he asked, because generally people brought up the things they wanted to talk more about. Assumed himself right when Sue mentioned the name and brought up his sibling again. "Good song. Not a favorite, but a good song. Funny. Sometimes funny songs hit the spot," he commented. "Atticus is from the book. To Kill a Mockingbird," he offered. Sue hadn't asked, but also knew most people he encountered in Repose were more interested in talking about themselves than about other people. Still, liked to slip something in to derail that every so often. "Can tell me why you legitimately like Lolita and Flowers in the Attic, if you really like them. Like talking about books."
