"Then we'll do it during a weeknight. I can check my calendar after we finish up," although Hugh was pretty certain that most nights would work. It wasn't as if - despite the work stuff that he had - he really had that pressing of a social calendar, but he didn't mind if it gave the impression of him having one.
"And yes," he laughed. "That's exactly what I'm telling you. You've got to be constantly aware lest Hugh the secret shopper shows up on the wrong night." Hugh had to confess that he liked seeing Dietre smile. He was so solemn most of the time, so serious, and when he did smile? even the smallest one of smiles seemed to make his face shift.
He hesitated and then decided he'd just ask: "Did your mother play?"
