Re: [Gala, Capital: Burden & Damian]
Sure as the day was long, the offer about going on back to Ben was false as could be. He'd need to confess that later, and Burden was plenty aware that he wasn't acting any like a seminarian should. But what was done was done, and his God was a forgiving one. Moreover, his orisha believed in living life, and could be the two things should collide more than they did in his head, but they didn't. Still, he did comprehend that he had deliberately lured Damian on out here, and there wasn't a hint of doubt in his mind about that. Which likely led to the comment about not hindering Damian from doing things, despite the fact that he'd done just that.
He glanced over at the boy, all that red velvet still visible in slivers beneath the coat Damian wore, and the color was real pretty against dark skin in the moonlight. It was downright romantic, that thinking, but the thought still came and real unbidden. But, Burden, he just walked, having said that thing he didn't mean any, but that he knew he needed to mean entire. And he was real aware that Damian's response was going to be a challenging one, seeing as his own statement hadn't been clear; he already knew Damian requested clarity often, and, Burden, he just waited for Damian to blink and ask, gaze dropping and rising how it did.
Burden, he was good at appearing like still waters, and he didn't fidget none or start. Hands in his own pockets, he walked a few steps further, considering. "I don't reckon I'm talking about Benjamin Coltan or his preference for latex," he said, not managing to keep from looking entertained at Damian's closing quip and subsequent grinning. "I'm talking about your life, and the folks you have in it, and their potential interest in latex. Not Ben's specifically." Now, Burden, he frowned at that second mention of latex, mind already providing visuals he was both intrigued and displeased by. "I'm saying I feel different about you than I do about other folks, but I comprehend that I can't act on that, and I don't want you thinking that means I'll be fussed if you do act on that sort of thing with others." The problem was that Burden, he was real unconvinced about his own words, and he sounded unsure about them. It wasn't real convincing, and make no mistake about that. And he understand it was all real premature, this conversation, but understanding that it didn't make it feel like it was the case.
"But that color, it sure is real fetching on you." Which was neither called for, and which didn't come with any type of segue.
